We recently connected with Qiayz and have shared our conversation below.
Qiayz, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
I have some of the most loving parents on the planet. My mother is the nicest person I know, with the warmest heart for everyone. My pops is the hardest-working man alive. Not a day in my life have I seen another person’s dad at work more than mine. They couldn’t do anything wrong, and because of them being hardworking and loving, that’s exactly how I flourished in my own life. I love the grind, and I love my family. They are the reason I devote my life to music, school, and work because I will retire my parents.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am not just a rapper but a versatile artist who is redefining the boundaries of music. I was born and raised in the heart of Chicago, Illinois, My music is as diverse and dynamic as the city I calls home. My unique style is a fusion of different genres, a testament to my innovative approach to song creation, and a look into my personal experiences. I can paint a vivid picture with each rhythm and rhyme, inviting you into my world of creativity and passion.
What sets me apart is my ability to seamlessly blend melodies with my rapping, a skill that has left many in awe. My music is not just a collection of songs, but a journey that showcases my evolution as an artist. With every beat, I challenge the status quo, pushing the envelope of what is possible in the realm of hip-hop, rap, and R&B. As you tune into my music, you’re not just listening to a song, but experiencing a story – the story of Qiayz, me, a rapper who is not afraid to dream and dare.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Stop making everything a cash grab!!! I am so tired of seeing true creatives robbed of their hard-earned money and time because scammers and vultures cheat code through life. If a service is free, let it be free. If it is not, then clearly state so with detail. Too many times people become discouraged because of deceitful business moves and janky situations, and, unfortunately, it will happen to the actual artist who deserves the light. If you want to help an artist, BUY THEIR PRODUCTS, whether it be a $20 t-shirt, a $1.29 for their new single, or even just buying a ticket to their show whether you go or not. A lot goes a very long way for an upcoming artist. This works for anyone who is up and coming in a business.
How did you build your audience on social media?
My audience has been organic since 2018. Even though AI, marketing services, and all of these cool tools can help you grow, nothing beats being in person. People need to connect to you, so being an online star is easy, anyone can do that. Not everyone can get outside and be their natural selves, have a real conversation, or even take photos, and support fan businesses. There’s so much more you can do, so much more you can impact when you get outside from behind a screen. People are more likely to indulge in your growth if you’ve connected in the human flesh. My advice would be to get outside, network, be you, dress like you own what you do, have fun, and watch how people will come to you instead. I do it every day because every day I am Qiayz!
