We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Pxrks a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Pxrks, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Almost all of them. In my opinion a project becomes meaningful the second you vibe with it or the second a vocalist or another producer are vibing to it. That’s why I love creating. To bring emotion to people in different and creative ways. Because sometimes its hard to express how you feel and I feel like music helps people break those chains that certain emotions can sometimes hold you down.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started making music Junior year of high school with my best friend that I’ve now known for well over a decade now. We used Cubase of all programs and it started with just two goofballs messing around making terrible dubstep and electro tracks or just making silly noises having a blast and laughing until there was tears running down our faces and we couldn’t breathe anymore. I only really started taking music more seriously probably 3-4 years after that but I think those times with my bestfriend Ryan helped me develop a strong love for creating music in general. I was fascinated how you can have one sound and twist and turn it into a completely different sound. Sometimes making something really cool and “good.” Unfortunately he moved back to Ohio and we stay in touch but nothing beats making music in person. Like the difference of seeing your favorite artist live. So nowadays I find myself just making whatever makes me happy in that moment. Whatever the vibe is really. Luckily I’ve been working with some AMAZING artists lately and it’s really taken my love for the craft to another level. I don’t ever see myself stopping. Even if I’m some old man in a garage making music for myself to listen to. Music is everything to me.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
