Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Pusha Preme. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Pusha , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
One Risk I took that change my life forever would be when I left college after my scholarship ran out to go to New York City. I didn’t have a job, I didn’t having anything in saving except for my work study money and I didn’t have the proper clothes for the weather due to my school being in Mississippi.
It taught me the importance of patience and being resilient. I took the time I was stuck filling out apps to do youtube blogs, learn how to record and mix on pro tools and develop my song making skills by studying rhyme patterns and lyrics.
That time I used in NYC further my ambition and excelled tremendously when I left NYC to come to Tampa, FL to start over and be closer to my daughter.
Since then I’ve been named Tampa Artist of the Year, awarded a Billboard and Itunes Plaque.
God is Good
Pusha , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into the industry naturally, even back in high school I made and sold clothes and had a rap group. We did local shows sneaking into clubs to do talent shows, the music business became a prime objective once I left school I told myself, rather than pursuing widespread celebrity,
I only needed to engage a modest base of “true fans”—those who will “buy anything you produce”—to the tune of $100 per fan, per year (for a total annual income of $100,000).
By embracing online networks, I believed as a creator I could bypass traditional gatekeepers and middlemen, get paid directly by a smaller base of fans, and live comfortably off the spoils.
For me its about keeping the integrity of well created thought provoking art and that what sets me apart, I want t create the trend not follow it.
I think what makes us different is our masks we were them as a band to keep the focus on the music .
I want to be able to exist in both worlds and get taken advantage by any stardom they may occur.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I love the idea of owning art especially digital are I have an NFT as well and my next album for the 1st 2,oo0 buyers I will be giving away a free NFT that actual shows my face.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Freedom to express thought thru creativity. Freedom to create and influence a culture.
Its an endless opportunities.
