Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Purplepops. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Purplepops thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you feel you or your work has ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized? If so, tell us the story and how/why it happened and if there are any interesting learnings or insights you took from the experience?
Being an independent band from a small town in California has taught us a lot. There has been lots of comparisons and negative narratives about our tunes, that we really don’t care about nor do we take into consideration. We started making music because it’s fun and we didn’t start doing this because we wanted to be “famous” or “celebrities” or any of that nonsense. We just really love it! One thing we took away from doing this for so long is that there’s going to be a lot of criticism and weird feedback from people. All we can say is, if you’re doing this music thing, do it for you, because at the end of the day if you’re doing what you love nothing else matters.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
The band purplepops has been together for about 5 years now. We started making music because we loved listening to music. We all grew up playing in churches and home and really just wanted to make tunes like our favorite artist. Some inspirations of ours include; Black Sabbath, Metallica, John Mayer, Mk.gee, Switchfoot, Nirvana and more. A milestone of ours was when we played on TV not too long ago. It was on a news show called “Great Day.” That was something we’re very proud of and we hope to play on television again sometime soon!
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
We have one goal and that is to make a career playing music. We all love playing music and couldn’t think of a better way to spend our time than traveling around the world with each other on tour making and playing great tunes!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being creatives is seeing people connect with our art. It’s really great to see fans relate and enjoy the music we put out. There’s nothing like it.
