We recently connected with Psway and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Psway, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

Well, it all started back a few years ago. On this particular day I was feeling down and out, and just over everything. I walked into a store in my neighborhood and noticed a man wearing a motivational tee shirt. To my surprise, the message on the shirt made me feel appreciative and grateful. Grateful for all the things I had and all the things I knew I would eventually acquire. The motivation that those words on the shirt gave me, not only uplifted me, but also inspired me. I knew then that creating shirts was something I was put here to do. Being able to change peoples moods and attitudes was my mission, as that was what happened to me on that unforgettable day. Since then, I’ve been creating shirts, hats, bags etc. Getting positive attention and great feedback from all walks of life. Not only am I recognized for my slogan tee shirts, but the name Paris Swaylin has always stuck out around others. Everywhere I go, people ask me where my name comes from. And as I always say, it was a gift from the ancestors. Because I prayed and meditated on a name that would not only be catchy, but that would stand alongside other great brand names. So my mission is, and always will be, is to take my brand and sayings to the highest level I can possibly go. Being able to reach people all around the world with Psway Wear is not only a dream, but a constant job that I enjoy and love dearly.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I go by Psway, formerly known as Purep618. I am an East St. Louis underground music artist/music producer. I’ve been doing music for over 20 years and writing poetry for even longer. Besides being led to do clothing, I’ve always looked for ways to express myself creatively. I love reading, writing and studying history. For I believe that everything is a cycle, and the way to a great future is knowing our history. What sets me apart, is being as active with my clients. I listen to them. I’m a firm believer that everyone has a great story to tell. I am so proud of myself for having the patience, dedication, vision and work ethic that is very much needed in achieving greatness. Paris Swaylin (Psway Wear) is my baby. I’ve worked so hard on putting this together, that sometimes I look back on when I started and still can’t believe how far I’ve come. Imagining, visualizing, and last but not least manifesting, has been absolutely nothing but amazing. I hope you guys learn to enjoy, love and appreciate Psway Wear as much as I do, and thank you in advance for your support.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

One lesson I definitely had to unlearn was to stop listening to others when it comes to my dreams and goals. The reason for this is that everyone won’t see your vision the way that you do. Learning to follow my first mind was a lesson I would never forget. There’s nothing wrong with collaborating with others, but always stick with what you believe in. For your idea, it may be an idea that changes things for the best.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

Funding my business was extremely difficult in the beginning because it was only myself. I worked two jobs to initially fund my business, which was a brick and mortar store. I did OK at a neighborhood store, but I soon found out that other people in different places were interested in my products as well. So, I decided to open an online store only. Although it’s still in its beginning stages, progress is made daily. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t promote my store and its products. I’m proud of my achievements, and I understand that there’s more work ahead, but the key is to never give up.
