Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Prosenjit Bagchi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Prosenjit thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Have you ever found yourself standing at the crossroads of life, unsure of which path to take? As I approached the end of high school, I was just like many others—lost and bewildered, grappling with the monumental question of what to do with my future.
The journey that followed was anything but straightforward. I embarked on a year of pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Statistics, only to pivot to a five-year program in Printing and Packaging Technology. By the time I had my degree in hand, I was no closer to understanding my true calling. One thing, however, became crystal clear: I did not want to be a Packaging Engineer. The technicalities bored me, yet the design aspects fascinated me.
Those five years weren’t entirely in vain. While in university, I ventured into the world of project management for a fashion team. This was my first taste of the creative arts, a realm that felt surprisingly like home. It was during this time that a close friend opened my eyes to a new world—a world where creativity and artistry thrived.
In my final year of engineering, I took a bold step and enrolled in a small animation course at FrameBoxx. Animation had always enchanted me; the magic of breathing life into the inanimate was irresistible. This newfound passion ignited a fire within me, leading to the biggest gamble of my life: pursuing a second bachelor’s degree, this time in the Creative Arts.
Switching careers at 23, especially to a field where most start honing their skills in adolescence, was daunting. It felt like learning to juggle while riding a bicycle. Yet, I found myself in Atlanta, at the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design, ready to embrace this thrilling new adventure.
Each day was a blend of exhilaration and trepidation, as I navigated this uncharted territory. Through the trials and triumphs, one thing became clear: I had finally found my true calling, a purpose that made the journey worthwhile.
But wait, that’s not where this story ends. After three years of honing my skills, through several trials and errors, I discovered the possibility of becoming a producer in Animation/VFX and gaming. This revelation, combined with my extroverted personality, meant there was no looking back.
In the five years since graduating from SCAD, I have worn many hats: Production Assistant, Coordinator, Manager, Associate Producer. Each role was a stepping stone, each challenge a lesson.
Since graduating five years ago, I have immersed myself in the world of creative production. I have participated in two engaging short-form projects and worked alongside some of the biggest names in the industry, including Disney+, Netflix, Apple TV, and CBS. My portfolio includes five VFX movies, where I helped create mesmerizing visual effects, as well as contributing to over 40 episodes of preschool content and one delightful movie that continues to captivate young audiences. I have been fortunate that cumulatively my projects have won over 30 awards, including at festivals and other accolades.
While my resilience, hard work, and perseverance have been vital, a key factor in my success has been the unwavering support of my incredible support system. The guidance of my amazing bosses, the collaboration with talented producers, and the teamwork with exceptional colleagues have all played a crucial role in helping me get to where I am today.
Yet, beyond my aspirations to become a producer, my creative journey continues. More than three years ago, I began groundwork on my latest adventure, an entrepreneurial venture—my baby called Pixelations. Perhaps my biggest leap of faith since choosing to pursue the world of animation.
Pixelations is a small startup that exists to shine a spotlight on India’s hidden gems—celebrating the stories and crafts of local artists, creatives, and athletes through a gallery of distinctive collectibles that capture the spirit and passion of their journey.
We shall be launching our product line before the end of this year, and we are truly excited to share our distinctive designs with people globally. The adventure is far from over; it is just beginning.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Is there something unique about my journey as a creative? Absolutely. It’s a path filled with exhilarating highs and daunting lows, a journey that demands more than just skill—it demands heart and soul.
Imagine the thrill of breathing life into a two-dimensional drawing. It’s not merely an act of creation; it’s an adventure, a transformation. Every stroke, every line, is imbued with emotion and intention, akin to tasting the richness of chocolate for the first time and discovering a new world of flavors. This is the essence of animation and design, where each project is a delicate dance between imagination and reality.
The creative journey is one of profound vulnerability. Each time we present our work, we expose a piece of ourselves to the world. It’s like baring our deepest thoughts and feelings to an audience, hoping for understanding and appreciation. The unveiling of a new animation or design is a moment of raw honesty, a testament to our inner visions and dreams.
This path is often strewn with failures and rejections, but each setback is a stepping stone toward mastery. It’s like sculpting a masterpiece from a block of marble—each chip, each mistake, brings us closer to the final form. Resilience and perseverance are our constant companions, teaching us to embrace challenges and grow from them.
The personal investment in creative work is immense. It’s not just about clocking in hours; it’s about pouring a part of our soul into our creations. When I embarked on my journey at Savannah College of Art and Design, I wasn’t just acquiring skills; I was reshaping my identity. I grappled with self-doubt, striving to find my unique voice amidst a sea of talented artists. It was a transformative experience, one that demanded introspection and courage.
Moreover, the collaborative nature of creative work is a symphony of shared ideas and mutual inspiration. The creative community thrives on collaboration, feedback, and collective growth. During my time at SCAD, I learned the true power of creative synergy, where diverse perspectives come together to elevate each project.
So, when you look at a piece of animation or design, know that you’re witnessing more than just art—you’re witnessing a journey. A journey of passion, resilience, and unwavering dedication. It’s a path that shapes us, challenges us, and ultimately, defines us as artists.
My story is one of many in the vast tapestry of the creative world, but it’s one that underscores the profound depth and beauty of this journey. It’s a journey worth every challenge, every triumph, and every moment of vulnerability.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My switch to animation and my venture with Pixelations have been fueled by a deeply personal mission.
A portion of my journey began in a bustling movie theater in India, perhaps when I about 18~19 years old where I was excitedly watching an animated film with friends. Amid the magic unfolding on the screen, a group of children and their mothers behind us chatted incessantly. When I politely asked them to quiet down, I was met with a dismissive remark: “Why are you at a cartoon movie? Animated movies are meant for kids!”
That comment struck a chord. It wasn’t just an offhand remark; it reflected a widespread, dismissive attitude towards animation. That moment planted a seed in my mind—a desire to change this narrative and show the world the depth and sophistication of animated content.
Through my work as a producer, I aim to shift perceptions. Animation is not just for children; it is a powerful medium for storytelling, rich with subtext, metaphors, and societal commentary. Every animated film or series has layers waiting to be uncovered by viewers of all ages.
With Pixelations, my goal is to celebrate and showcase the vast cultural heritage and stories of India. We create unique collectibles that embody the spirit and passion of local artists, creatives, and athletes. These pieces are more than just decorative items; they are gateways to conversations about India’s rich and diverse narratives.
In an increasingly interconnected world, I believe that Pixelations can bring the stories of India to a global audience. Our figurines and collectibles are designed to spark curiosity and dialogue, bringing the vibrancy of Indian culture into homes and workplaces around the world.
So, yes, my mission is deeply personal. It’s about changing perspectives, celebrating hidden talents, and fostering meaningful conversations through the art of animation and creative expression. This journey, sparked by a simple comment in a movie theater, has become a lifelong quest to elevate and honor the stories that matter.
