We were lucky to catch up with Privilege Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a Beauty Enthusiast, Brand strategist, Makeup Artist, and A Holistic Advocate. I’ve been working in the Beauty industry for several years, I’ve done makeup for Movies, Tv shows, Funeral homes and more.
I am also the CEO of Privilege Beauty CBD. Our goal is to help people get back their quality of life with our products. I am a firm believer of Holistic Healing and with our all natural products you can get back moving in 3 mins or less.
I have a Nonprofit 501c3 called N2KM and we are currently working on the No Creative Left Behind Project. This will help us give young creatives an opportunity to try out entertainment fields that they are passionate about through, coaching, inspiration and helping to fund their future endeavors.
I’m all about community and helping youth in anyway I can. I am most proud of being a business owner because I took the steps, I took the time to get the paperwork behind me to run a business. For profit and Non-profit. There are always a lot of sets back in business and the hardest part sometimes is to keep going. My why that keeps me going is being able to help someone else weather it be a person in physical pain, or a young person with internal pain, im always looking to heal someone.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effectively strategy for growing my clientele was building relationships and sampling. Anytime I would give a sample I would ask the person would it be ok if I follow up and see how the products are working for you and the answer every time would be yes.
Now, not every time would they respond but to the ones who did, who’s the stories were amazing. I got to see how people were in pain, how long they had been dealing with it, and how in mins my products worked.
It got to the point where they started telling friends and family and before you knew it I was getting orders from people I didn’t even know.
People want to feel like you care and having the connections and following up showed people that I did care and I really wanted to see them better.
So I think that personal touch and them having a connection with me as an individual not a brand it’s what has helped me grow my clientele.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn was it not going to be perfect but you still need to get it out there. For a few weeks once I made the product I wasn’t putting it out because I didn’t have labels, I didn’t have anything but a recipe.
So I was writing on the labels and giving it to people to try and they loved it, without a label they still wanted to buy. So I had to learn if it works, it works no label or not. Perfection will hold you back, it will never be perfect because you’re your biggest critic so get out your head and get it out to the world.
