We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Prithee. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Prithee below.
Prithee, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
Well…we spent our early days out of the womb learning to crawl, to instruments…before we could see we were appreciating the soothing sounds of the Talking Heads, Tiny Tim, Devo, and Led Zeppelin. We then all spent hours practicing our crafts in our own ways, but spending hours practicing was something we all shared. Hours and hours and hours of hours. Some learned theory, others learnt by ear, others by watching live show videos, maybe a combination of it all… but we all practiced. If any skill was needed it was the skill to enjoy what we were doing. It was fun, we learnt to do this for fun, so we learned the fun way…by playing. A lot.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
We started this fantastic adventure on a balmy fall night in Cleveland Hts in 2021 and its been to the races ever since. We got into this group at different times and for different reasons but that night, it all clicked into place. Berdt Barrios had started Prithee as a solo album with the help of some friends in the hopes of using that recording to start a band. He was joined by his friend Jon Richey on drums and Kelly Flynn on harmony vocals and with the late William “Bill” DeMarco manning the board they made Prithee’s first album “TwoWonSicks”. After a few attempts with different members we get to that fall event at the Social Room where Berdt on guitar and vocals, Todd Marshall on bass, and Julian Palombi on drums played together for the first time. Prithee was really born that night. After a few months of playing shows and open mics we released a few singles – “Spinabifida” and “Carnival”…mixed by Jim Wirt and Tuck Mindrum respectfully. Berdt and Jon Richey had made a video for the first single “Spinabifida” shortly after remixing the single, so we went back as a band to Jon to do the second music video for the second single “Carnival” in the summer of 2022…right before we went into the studio to record our second album with Tuck Mindrum running the sessions. While finishing work on the second album we met Evan Crouse and welcomed him into our family to add textures and sounds with his guitar and synths. We are finishing artwork for the sophomore album, which we’ve named “Snack Shack Tasty Tunes” and will be releasing it later this year.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
We have one mission as a band. To have fun. We take motivation from the stupidly talented people like Ray Flanagan….handsome, arrogant, a pleasure to be around, literally the worst. The best….but the worst. Love that guy! 😏

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is a personal reward. The reward is in the act of doing. We love the catharsis of wiggling and jumping around, screaming our heads off, making weird noises, saying odd things, but its different for each of us. We do love seeing Ray Flanagan’s face after we play, full of wonder and awe. He’s great. An asshole…but a wonderful, lovely, talented human.
