We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Priscilla Swahn a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Priscilla, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
I went from making $150 a month to $45,000+ a month within one and a half years, and still scaling to be a seven-figure business.
I initially started with offering 1:1 client coaching sessions, which as a Dietitian, many offer for around $150/hr. This is not a good strategy for growing a successful practice while working fewer hours. I worked with a Dietitian business coach who encouraged me to expand to offering premium 1:1, 3-month packages. I increased pricing to $1500 for the package, however, I again found that I only have so many hours in a day, and for fast growth, this is not optimal and is draining. I again worked with my business coach to create a 3-month group coaching program, of which I included modules, weekly group coaching calls, weekly meal plans, and a private Facebook group for group members. I went from charging $1000 per client, to now charging $4,500 per client to be in my high-ticket group coaching program. I went from spending 20 hrs a week coaching and bringing in $10,000/mo, to 3 hrs a week coaching and bringing in $45,000/mo. This was a no-brainer!

Priscilla, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Priscilla Swahn, I have my Masters of Science in Nutritional Sciences and am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. I am the founder of Keto Girl Nutritionist. I started out in healthcare working in hospitals where I specialized in thyroid health and nutrition. I was tired of seeing patients come in, get on medication, provide the diet, and never see them again.
I wanted to make a difference as I knew the right diet can be life-changing when coupled with support and accountability. This led me to open my virtual private practice. I am now the CEO and owner of the multi-six-figure company, Keto Girl Nutritionist. I offer a high-ticket group coaching program for women with a thyroid imbalance. I provide a holistic mindful keto approach for women to consistently lose 1-4 lbs a week, reverse their Hypothyroidism or Hashimoto’s and get off of their medication; all while having their cupcake and wine.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I was initially worried clients would not value group coaching. However, I learned that clients buy results, and that is exactly what I sell them. I had to unlearn selling deliverables, and start focusing on results. only. Client results improved in the group coaching. Clients are in a group of like-minded individuals who suffer from the same thyroid struggle and also are encouraged to know they are not alone.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Marketing. My marketing strategy via Instagram consists of daily posting the problem and providing the solution. I have created Standard Operating Procedures for my virtual assistant to be able to create basic posts via Canva and schedule them Later for me. I then do video reels 4-5 times a week where I show my face. I have learned that people want to know who is providing a service and feel like they have a connection. All of this has been key in growing from 1000 followers to over 24,000 followers.
