We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Priscilla Horta. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Priscilla below.
Hi Priscilla, thanks for joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I hope my legacy will be a shift in how people think about travel- that it’s not just about seeing places or checking off a list, but its about connecting, respecting, and giving back. I aimed to create a business model that prioritizes community over convenience, culture over commercialization, and sustainability over shortcuts.
I want people to be mindful about their travels. The kind of travel that directly supports local families, preserves traditional knowledge, and helps conserve the natural environments that make up our world. To seek out ethical experiences, no matter where their travels take them.
I get feedback often from tour guests, thanking me for the authentic off-the-beaten path experiences. So if years from now, someone says their life was changed by a journey we took together, or an experience they had, that would be a legacy I am proud to leave behind.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
From a young age, I had a passion for wildlife. As soon as I turned 18, I began traveling anywhere I could to observe and photograph the animals I had always admired, this time in their natural habitats. These adventures often took me to remote regions far from the typical tourist trail. What I witnessed while I was there changed me forever. I saw firsthand the impact humans were having on the natural world and on the communities living closest to it. Once you’ve seen that kind of reality, it’s hard to return to “normal life” and pretend it doesn’t exist.
Again and again, I crossed paths with travelers who moved through these places without any awareness of the footprint they were leaving behind— unintentionally harming the very place they’d come to experience. At the same time, friends, family, and coworkers kept asking me how they could join me on these trips. That is when the idea for Mundial Eco Tours was born.
Mundial Eco Tours was founded with the hope of shifting the way people think about travel. One of the most powerful ways we can make a positive impact is by being intentional about where we spend our travel dollars. Every choice—from where you stay to the activities you join and the meals you enjoy—matters.
When you travel with us, you’re helping ensure that your trip directly supports the right people: locally owned businesses, conservation efforts, and indigenous communities. We hold ourselves to high standards when it comes to who we partner with, and I am proud to say that many of our collaborators have become like family. Returning year after year with new guests feels like coming home and introducing friends to the people and places I care most about.
We’re honored to work alongside grassroots conservation projects and community-led initiatives around the world. What matters most to me is that our guests leave not just with beautiful memories, but with a deeper understanding, authentic connection, and a lasting sense of impact.
One of the biggest challenges I see is how overwhelmed people feel when it comes to planning travel, especially international travel. Concerns about logistics, language barriers, safety, and the unknown often hold people back. Many of the travelers who reach out to me have never even had a passport or left the U.S. This is exactly why I built my tours the way I did: to remove that fear and make travel feel accessible, exciting, and safe.
I never take guests anywhere I haven’t personally been first. Every destination and itinerary is carefully vetted by me, from accommodations and transportation to the restaurants and guides with whom I work. I collaborate closely with trusted local partners on the ground to ensure each trip runs smoothly.
Right now, I’m a one-woman show. I handle every part of the experience from pre-trip communication and logistics to being there on the ground guiding each group. That level of involvement allows me to offer something truly personal and intentional. My guests aren’t just signing up for a trip—they’re joining something I’ve poured my heart into, and I truly feel that it makes all the difference.

How did you build your audience on social media?
When it came to building my social media presence, authenticity was my top priority. I didn’t want my page to blend in with the sea of polished, curated ecotourism accounts filled with drone shots of tropical beaches. I wanted to create something that felt more real. Something that highlights the partners I work with, tells their stories, and shows the actual day-to-day of travel. That means sharing not just the scenic moments, but the real things that make each destination meaningful.
Collaborating with other accounts and creators has been a great way to expand my reach, but what’s made the biggest difference is focusing on content like reels, voiceovers, behind-the-scenes videos, and cultural snapshots. I’m less interested in creating a “perfect” feed and more focused on telling honest stories that reflect the heart of what I do.
I’ll be the first to admit, I’m still learning and growing in this space. I’ve found it challenging to consistently put myself in front of the camera, I’d always rather spotlight the incredible people I work with and the beautiful places we explore. But I’ve come to understand that for people to truly connect with my tours, they need to connect with me too. Showing the person behind the business— my values, my experiences, and what sets Mundial Eco Tours apart—is something I’m leaning into more, and I believe it’s the right step forward.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
For me, connection doesn’t end when the trip is over. I stay in touch with past clients through social media and personal check-ins. I feel very lucky to say that many of my travelers have become lifelong friends. I have guests that have returned for a second, third, and even fourth tour with me. And because my groups are small and intimate, we all get to know each other personally. I have many examples of individuals coming on group trips alone and leaving with close friends. Some of my groups have even signed up for future tours all together again!
As fas as the brand, I try to prioritize creating a sense of community. Whether it’s through sharing stories from past trips on my social media accounts, highlighting guest experiences, or giving updates on the local partners and projects we support, I want people to feel like they’re part of something bigger. I want them to know the adventure they had has purpose behind it.
Many guests come back not just for the destinations, but because they know they’re traveling with someone who they can genuinely trust. Ultimately, trust is what builds loyalty.
