We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Priscilla Cavazos a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Priscilla, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Taking photographs has always been something I enjoyed doing. As a kid, I loved capturing memories and moments of the people and places that I love. It was more than just a hobby for me. As I grew to be an adult, I figured what better way to continue exploring my passion than to share it with others. Photography to me is an expressive art that allows me to hold onto memories and showcase moments through my eyes and from my own point of view. My mission as a photographer is to share my joy and my art with others, hoping that they can feel the same love and passion as I do when they come across my artistry. Often times, people tend to forget that photographs have so much meaning for our memories, especially later on in life when the photographs are all they have left.
Priscilla, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those who do not know me, My name is Priscilla Cavazos. I am 34 years old and live on the southern east coast of Texas in a city named Corpus Christi. I have dedicated my career to being a Texas & Destination Wedding & Elopement Photographer. Figuring out I wanted this to become my career was simple. After being complimented on my work and asking if I would begin photographing events/occasions, I decided to give it a go. After working a couple of events, my passion for it grew instantly and I realized this was what I wanted to do with my life. Let me say, it has been the most rewarding thing in my life. Not only am I able to do what I love but I am able to bring happiness to other people by capturing their moments for them. My services offer photography for weddings and elopements locally or at a destination as well as lifestyle photography for occasions and boudoir. Along with that, I offer tangible products to go with your photographs such as prints, galleries, albums, etc. Since I feel it’s important to have your memories displayed for everyone to see as opposed to just having them stored on your computer.
I feel what sets me apart in my industry is my drive to photograph every detail of your wedding/event from start to finish. At Portraits by Priscilla, we offer ALL DAY WEDDING COVERAGE which means my start time usually begins as hair and makeup starts and lasts until your wedding is over. Although, I do offer hourly services, for those who want it. I also feel as if every important moment deserves to be documented which is why I stay for it all.
The thing I am most proud of in my business is bringing joy and happiness to others through my art. I’m happy that I am able to do what I love and be successful while doing it. I want people to know that I care about their memories just as much as they do and will strive to create authentic timeless treasures for them to have for a lifetime.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I think the most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been the exceptional customer service I provide. To me, my clients come first and I do my very best to provide them with what they deserve and need as well as taking care of any problems that may arise in the best way possible.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has definitely been word of mouth, Google, and Social Media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. Over the years, I am seen successful traction from all of them and it has helped me in many ways. I hope to continue using these platforms in the future in hopes, it will continue to benefit me.
