We were lucky to catch up with Priscilla Cabada recently and have shared our conversation below.
Priscilla, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
At its heart, my mission is to bring happiness and positivity to my community. I want my cakes to inspire moments of connection and joy, whether it’s a family gathering, a milestone celebration, or simply someone treating themselves to something special. My psychology background plays an important role in this mission—I’ve always believed and have witnessed first hand how small acts of kindness and positivity can ripple through a community, creating a lasting impact. Through P.S. Bake Shop, I hope to be a part of that positive impact by contributing to the sweet, happy moments that bring people together. I’ve seen how something as simple as a cake can bring people together, start conversations, and make memories that last a lifetime. And honestly, that’s why I do this! I want every cake to be a reflection of love, happiness, and the beauty of life’s milestones.
The name “P.S.” stands for “Positively Sweet,” which encapsulates my mission to spread happiness and positivity through my cakes. For me, a cake isn’t just a dessert; it’s a centerpiece of life’s most joyful occasions—weddings, birthdays, baby showers, and more. I take pride in knowing that my creations play a role in these cherished moments. There’s something incredibly special about knowing that a cake I made becomes part of someone’s happiest memories. Sharing those smiles and celebrations is the heartbeat of my business.
But my mission goes beyond just creating beautiful cakes. I’m deeply passionate about using the highest quality ingredients, scouting for exceptional organic products, and developing flavors that are as exquisite as the designs themselves. I believe that every bite should tell a story of care, craftsmanship, and creativity. This dedication to quality is a non-negotiable standard for me because it aligns with my core value of never compromising on excellence.
Ultimately, P.S. Bake Shop is about more than just baking; it’s about creating a sense of joy, one cake at a time. Whether it’s the intricate designs that captivate the eye, the gourmet flavors that delight the palate, or the shared moments that create lifelong memories, my work is driven by the belief that sweetness has the power to uplift and unite. That’s what makes my mission not just meaningful, but truly fulfilling.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to share my story! My name is Priscilla, and I am the founder and baker behind P.S. Bake Shop, a boutique bakery dedicated to creating cakes and desserts that bring joy and connection to life’s special moments. My journey into the world of baking began in my childhood, where I spent countless hours in the kitchen experimenting with recipes and finding joy in sharing my creations with family and friends. What started as a hobby grew into a true passion, and during my junior year of college, I found myself diving deeper into cake decorating as a creative outlet during the pandemic. That was the turning point—when I realized that baking could be more than just a pastime; it could be my calling.
When I graduated from UTSA, I decided to take a leap of faith and transform my passion into a business. That’s how P.S. Bake Shop was born. The name “P.S.” stands for “Positively Sweet,” which reflects my mission to spread happiness and positivity through my work. I believe that cake I create is a symbol of celebration, love, and connection. Whether it’s a wedding, birthday, baby shower, or any other milestone, I take pride in being a part of those meaningful moments through my creations.
I specialize in creating custom-designed cakes, gourmet flavors, and beautifully crafted desserts that look as stunning as they taste. What sets my bakery apart is the combination of artistry and quality. I’m passionate about sourcing the finest organic and high-quality ingredients to ensure every bite is unforgettable. From intricate hand-piped designs to bold and innovative flavor pairings, I strive to create desserts that are as unique as the individuals and events they’re made for.
One of the things I’m most proud of is my commitment to excellence. I’ve worked hard to hone my craft, combining my love for baking with a dedication to learning and experimenting. My goal is not only to deliver delicious and visually stunning desserts but also to provide a seamless and personalized experience for my clients. I understand that every event is special, and I’m here to make sure that my desserts become a memorable part of the celebration. Whether it’s creating a show-stopping wedding cake, curating a dessert table, or designing treats for a corporate event, I work closely with my clients to ensure their ideas come to life.
I like to go the extra mile by creating original 3D sketches to help clients visualize their dream cakes and dedicate countless hours brainstorming design ideas to ensure every detail is perfect. Sometimes, I even get to work with clients on surprises—like when a spouse comes to me for advice on creating a cake that will leave their partner speechless. These moments of collaboration and creativity are some of the most rewarding aspects of my work.
What truly sets P.S. Bake Shop apart is the heart and intention behind every creation. My mission is to bring positivity to my community, one cake at a time. I’ve been fortunate to connect with so many amazing people who trust me to be a part of their special occasions, and that’s something I never take for granted. My psychology background also inspires me to focus on the emotional impact of my work—the joy, surprise, and connection that a beautiful dessert can spark.
The main thing I want potential clients and followers to know is that P.S. Bake Shop is about more than just desserts. It’s about creating moments of happiness, celebrating life’s sweetest milestones, and delivering products that reflect care, creativity, and quality. Whether you’re looking for a custom cake for a big celebration or simply a sweet treat to brighten your day- I’m here to make your vision a reality by bringing a little more sweetness into your life!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Building a strong reputation in my market has been a combination of passion, quality, and connection. First and foremost, I’ve always believed that the foundation of my business starts with the product itself. I’m deeply committed to using only the highest quality ingredients, crafting gourmet flavors, and ensuring that every cake and dessert I make not only tastes incredible but also looks stunning. Each flavor and item on my menu undergoes a meticulous process of recipe testing and development to ensure that it is up to the highest standards in taste and presentation before it is released to my customers. Everything I create is made from scratch using my own recipes that have taken countless hours to perfect. The quality of ingredients I use also plays an important role in making my products stand out.
I’ve been fortunate enough to gain my client’s trust and loyalty because they know that every creation from P.S. Bake Shop is made with exceptional ingredients, attention to detail, and a genuine love for what I do. The client testimonials showcased on my website and social media pages are a powerful reflection of the trust, impact, and reputation I have worked hard to establish. I’ve always taken the time to listen and understand what my clients are looking for. Being approachable, responsive, and genuinely invested in making each event has helped me create lasting connections and build trust. Word-of-mouth has also played a huge role in my reputation. When people experience a cake or dessert that exceeds their expectations, they’re excited to share that experience with their friends and family. It’s incredibly humbling to know that so much of my business comes from referrals and repeat clients. I’ve had the incredible honor of hearing from clients with over 30 years of culinary expertise who have told me that my cakes are the best they’ve ever tasted in all their years of experience. Selling out at every pop-up market is a true testament to the trust and quality I’ve worked tirelessly to cultivate. I’m also deeply grateful for my loyal clients who continuously follow me to every pop-up market around town, going out of their way just to purchase my products. Their unwavering support and enthusiasm mean the world to me.
I also believe that consistently showing up and consistently providing an exceptional product and service has made a big difference. Whether it’s at a farmers market, a holiday pop-up, or a client’s event, I make it a point to go above and beyond to ensure everything is perfect. This reliability has helped solidify my reputation as someone who can be counted on to deliver not just a product, but an experience. It’s this blend of exceptional products, personalized service, and a heartfelt connection with my clients that I believe has helped me build a strong and trusted reputation in my market.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Earlier this year, I faced one of the most challenging moments in my journey as a small business owner. For nearly two years, I had participated in a pop-up market held once a month at a popular luxury retail mall here in San Antonio, Tx. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with my customers, showcase my products, and be part of a vibrant community.
However, out of the blue, the mall executives decided that I would no longer be allowed to participate in this monthly market. They claimed that my small business—present only one day a month—posed direct competition to a national coffee chain and national restaurant chain within the mall. The mall’s claim was completely baffling and absurd, especially since my handcrafted cakes and desserts are completely different from the mass-produced offerings of those corporations.
This not only came as a shock to me but it left me feeling extremely disheartened and frustrated. It was infuriating to think that my small business was being unfairly targeted and treated as a threat by a large multi-billion corporation. I was especially worried about disappointing my loyal customers who had come to rely on seeing me at that location. The experience tested me on various levels and for a moment had me doubting and questioning everything about my business.
Finding a new location was no easy task. I spent countless hours searching for a market that could provide the same quality environment and experience for my customers. It took determination and a lot of research, but eventually, I found an even better location. The move turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Not only did it allow me to continue connecting with my existing customers, but it also opened the door to new opportunities and audiences.
Looking back, I’ve come to see the situation as a strange sort of compliment. The fact that two massive national corporations felt threatened by my small independent business validated the impact I was making. It reminded me that the quality and uniqueness of my work truly sets me apart. This experience taught me that resilience isn’t just about overcoming obstacles—it’s about finding strength in adversity, trusting in your vision, and recognizing the opportunities hidden within challenges.
