We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Priscilla Caba-Davila. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Priscilla below.
Hi Priscilla , thanks for joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
You know, my vision for this business is pretty personal. I’ve always wanted to create something that’s not just about creating wealth, but about making a real impact. For me, that means empowering women to go after their dreams fearlessly. And when I say women, I’m talking about every woman, especially stay-at-home mothers. I want them to know they’re superheroes in their own right, with dreams that deserve to see the light of day. HerCrew co. is like a cheerleader, rooting for them every step of the way. When people think of me, I hope they see someone who sparked a fire in others, giving them the courage to chase their dreams without holding back.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Allow me to introduce myself to those who may not yet be acquainted. I am Priscilla Beatrice Caba, a wife, mother, friend, daughter, and the founder of HerCrew Co., an event and balloon styling business. Born out of my innate creativity, HerCrew Co. serves as an outlet for me to express and amplify my artistic vision.
When clients approach me with their ideas and aspirations, I take pride in translating their visions into reality. Armed with color schemes and venue photographs, I embark on a creative journey, sketching designs on paper and digitally to conceptualize how my balloons and accessories will transform their events. Being the founder of a woman and person of color-owned business fills me with immense pride, and I am committed to exceeding industry standards and client expectations.
One example exemplifies our commitment to excellence: collaborating with a client and their event planner, and we orchestrated a birthday/proposal that left a lasting impression. HerCrew Co. crafted a stunning backdrop adorned with floral accents, suspended balloons, and elegant fringe, elevating the event to unforgettable heights. Going above and beyond isn’t just a motto; it’s woven into the essence of HerCrew Co.’s culture and ethos.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Back in 2022, just a couple of months after my father’s unexpected passing, I found myself at a pivotal moment. The year had started off well, juggling the joys and challenges of raising two young children, aged two and four, while managing both a business and a household. Life felt full and busy until everything changed in the blink of an eye. Since then, I’ve been on a journey of learning and embracing the healing power of time. I’ve come to understand that healing isn’t a straightforward path; it’s a rollercoaster of emotions with highs and lows. Through it all, I’ve grown more resilient, realizing that it’s perfectly alright not to feel okay and that seeking support is a brave step, not a sign of weakness. Despite the moments of sorrow, this journey has taught me the virtues of patience and self-compassion, reassuring me that grief is an integral part of my story.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was self-doubt; it caused a lot of unnecessary overthinking. Understanding that I was more than capable and there was a reason people hired me. I had lived so long with self-doubt that it became normalized in my life. It was not until I embraced my uniqueness, trusted my journey, and flipped the script on those negative thoughts that I began to evolve in all aspects of my life. I would have a message to anyone who reads this: to seek support, take action, and remember imperfection is part of the journey.
