We were lucky to catch up with Priscila Pantosin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Priscila thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Peachy Esthetics started because of my own struggle with acne. I have been dealing with acne since I was 16. As a teen and young adult, I was always struggling to find the correct skincare and treatments for my acne prone sensitive skin. During this time, I was so self conscious about my skin and would use makeup and my hair to cover my face.
In my early 20s, my Australian friend, Jessica, suggested I try Korean skincare and I was astonished by how effective it was. I loved that K-beauty took a more holistic approach to skincare and put an emphasis on barrier care and deeply hydrating the skin. Once I incorporated K-beauty into my routine, my skin completely turned around. It went from red, itchy, and inflamed to soft, hydrated, and I was able to achieve the coveted “glass skin look”.
Once I turned 30, I realized I needed a new purpose in life. I decided to go to esthetician school in Sunnyside, Queens with the purpose of one day having my own salon and helping others with their skin concerns. I realized that not a lot of estheticians in NYC specialized in Korean skincare so I hoped to be one of the first to do so. Now, my treatment room is filled with professional grade Korean skincare and treatments. K-beauty has been a life saver for myself and nearly all of my clients and I can’t wait to show the world!
Priscila, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I dove into Korean skincare because of my own skin concerns. I truly love the approach K-beauty has on healing skin. My main focus is to teach each client how to care for their specific skin type while also focusing on how their mental health, gut health, and extrinsic factors affect their skin as a whole.
I provide corrective treatments and skincare for anyone dealing with acne, hyperpigmentation, sensitive skin, and other skin concerns in a completely judgment free safe space.
The thing I am mostly proud of is being able to boost someone’s self confidence during their skin healing journey. The immense happiness I feel when I help someone heal their skin is unmatched.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Initially, I had taken a break from social media and only started using it again once I became an esthetician student. I started building my community by sharing story posts about my daily life as an unemployed esthetician student and stay at home reptile mom. I would share things like skincare tips, snippets of Draco, my bearded dragon, memes, and the foods I ate. I would also post polls and AMA’s where my community could “Ask me anything”. I loved posting these as it helped me grow closer to my community and gave me an idea on what content I should make. This is how my other account, Peachy Eats NYC, was born. On that account, I mainly focus on posting food and activities in NYC while also promoting Peachy Esthetics. I love the dynamic of Peachy Eats and Peachy Esthetics. For me, both accounts are just one huge community.
My advice to anyone starting social media is to be your genuine self. People want to see authenticity! I would also advise you to make a “content calendar” so you know when and what to post. Social media can be overwhelming and without a plan, you can easily get flustered.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
For me, the best source of new clients is word of mouth. I firmly believe if someone loves your work, they will rave about it to their family, friends, and even strangers. Thats why I make sure to provide a beautiful, relaxing, yet informative experience every time someone books a skin service.
