Hi Priscila, thanks for joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?

When I opened my business five years ago, I thought it would be good to use a fantasy name. That didn’t take me too long until I realized my last name was perfect, Camara! I’m originally from Brazil, and in Portuguese, the camera translates camara. I thought people would understand the similarity, and I did a logo with a camera drawing. I love my bussiness name and my logo.

Priscila, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Since my young years, I have always been drawn to the arts… My father is a furniture designer, and with him, I learned about color balance, composition, and photography – his favorite hobby. Because of his amazing influence of him on my life, I pursued my degree in Design. I had the opportunity to study photography in depth while learning, in theory, everything about art and graphic design.

In Canton, Georgia, my studio serves clients in the greater Atalanta area. My studio specializes in newborn and maternity shoots. I have extensive knowledge in newborn photography thanks to several pieces of training with the best photographers in the industry and training in ​​baby physiology to ensure the necessary safety during the session. My studio has a vast amount of props and all the accessories for newborn rehearsals. For maternity shoots, I also have dresses for mothers-to-be. I speak fluent English, Portuguese, and Spanish. I’m a Professional Photographers of America member and qualified as a newborn photographer by the Newborn Photographers International Association. At my studio, clients receive all the necessary affection and care. I’m constantly praised for her professionalism and attention to detail, and the baby’s safety during the shoot.

My goal is always to provide my clients with a wonderful experience. This includes a fun session, high-quality prints, beautiful products, and top-notch customer service. And best of all, I do this with love and care.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

A happy client is the best way to build clientele while maintaining a great reputation. I worry about my clients before, during, and after their sessions. Once I deliver their final images, I know they will refer my work to their friends and family, and they will return for more sessions. I do not look for many followers; I look for real clients who booked a session with me or are looking to book one shortly.

Have you ever had to pivot?

Everything in my life changed when my daughter was born. I wanted to register every moment of her baby years, her cute smile, her first steps, her chubby belly. Now that she is 9, I’m still a paparazzi mom going after her with my camera and cell phone. To recall those milk-drunk nights and her warm body laying heavy on my chest, I have only memories… and, gratefully, the photographs that line our halls. Because of my daughter, I realized what my big passion was! I photograph newborns, kids, and mothers-to-be.

In 2016 we decided it was time to move to a place where we could enjoy better weather and quality of life. We left New Jersey, where we lived for 16 years, had a 12 years career in a very large TravelCompany, and moved to Georgia. It was the best decision we made, but even though I loved to stay home with my then, three years old daughter, I needed to find something to do that would allow me to be flexible and happy at the same time. In 2018 Priscila Camara Photography, LLC was born.
