We were lucky to catch up with Princess Elmore recently and have shared our conversation below.

Princess, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?

I’m definitely happier as an artist, its always been such a Passion to perform on stage and on camera, wouldn’t change it for nothing in the World. Yes I’ve thought about going back to work a regular job every single time I do not book a role that I felt like I worked so hard to get, every time my auditions slow down, every time I feel that maybe I might be a little over me head in this industry, and sometimes when I lose a little confidence in my craft, so Yelp I think about working a regular job during those low periods but then I realize that this is My dream job something that I’ve been working towards all my life, what else could I possibly do to make me so happy and so fulfilled??? Then I begin to realize that going back to work a regular job is no longer an option and there’s no going back option because I’ve worked extremely hard to get to where I am now and that I could no longer think of giving up on what I’ve started, I then realize that in this industry there are going to be ups and downs, slow periods of hardly no work coming in more NO’S than the Yes’s but I am determined to keep striving towards a long career as a Working Professional actress.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I’m a Wife of 26 years, a mom of 5 young men, A Momager, A working Actress and Acting Coach!! I got into the industry over 17 years ago but my beginning started in elementary school performing in school plays which lead to me becoming a Theatrical Stage Performer. I love the entertainment industry so much that as a kid and Young adult I kept myself involved in anything that had to do with the entertainment industry. I sung in the church choir at my church at a young age, I was also apart of a few different R&B and Gospel groups that were local in the area, I recorded a few singles of original songs, nothing never came of it but it was so much fun. After a while I would go on to singing solo at all kinds of social events such as Weddings, Funerals, Birthday parties, local church events and so on and so forth. I remained in Theatrical/ Stage for quite a few years until one day I was on set with my youngest son and I instantly fell in love with the TV/Film industry and I was like…”Yelp, this is exactly what I want to do, I love it!!” LOL!! And I’ve been a TV/Film/Commercial actor ever since and I’ve never looked back. I still love the live stage but I think it’s no longer my first love but still standing in a strong 2nd place statue LOL!! Before, I became a fulltime Working Actress, I worked in the Financial/ Banking industry for over 20 years, I loved my career in banking, becoming a VP of my department was such a Blessing and I was happy with my career but I felt it was time to follow my dreams of becoming an actor and I found my self battling with a job I no longer excited about and beginning a career I’ve always dreamed of as a Professional Actress/Singer. I knew the entertainment industry would be a very hard industry to break into but I have the determination to do what I have to do to make my dream a reality and I’m creating myself more marketable everyday to make sure I succeed in what I believe in ( myself and my gift). Over the past couple of years I’ve had the opportunity to work on some Amazing projects on TV and Film that included some absolutely Amazing talents. My goal is to find a permanent place in this industry such as more lead roles, recurring and series regular roles.
I’m most proud of the fact that I have worked on several Projects for local and Nationwide television, being able to grow into my craft to portray so many new and different characters. I’m also proud of the fact that I have a slew of supporters that believe in me and encourage me to keep going no matter the obstacles and my family is a really big part of my support team which is always sooooo needed in this industry. I’m most proud of having an opportunity to become an Acting Coach and help other actors pave their way into this industry prepared and ready to succeed.
What I would like for potential clients, followers, fans to know about me is that I am a true Go Getter!! I never give up on what I believe in and I am determine to succeed in this industry no matter how long it may take. I would also want people to know that I love helping others that are just getting into the industry because its hard to try to do things on your own, you always need someone to lend a helping hand even if its just some advice or on how to get started in the industry.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?

Yes there are a Plethora of resources I wish I knew about earlier on this Journey such as who to connect with as far as Acting Coaches, who to talk to about headshots and what they should look like for Commercials and TV, how to network with other actors and how to get your talent known among the ones that’s been in the industry for a while, where to go for auditions, who to talk to about getting into the industry, and so many other resources about agents, casting directors, etc. I wish I had so many other resources earlier in the game but I think that everything happens in God’s timing and not our own so I believe for me all of the resources that I have now came when it was my time period.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

For me I have to say that the most rewarding aspect of being an artist (Actor) is seeing my own growth in the industry as well as my craft. To work with stars that you’ve throughout the years and thinking, ” Wow!! This is finally happening, I’m on screen with my favorite actor or actress and realizing that once a dream is now a reality!! I also think its so very rewarding to have the confidence in your self that makes you feel so good about your accomplishments and to strive to keep going towards your Goal with no doubts in mind.
