We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Prince Nurse a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Prince, thanks for joining us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I’ve always been a creative, from the age of 8, I envisioned wanting to work for Nickelodeon as an animator, running a 2 hour block, so for me? I wish my career started then, because I was ready, with the ideas, the vision, the talent. I always just KNEW what I wanted to do and how I wanted to my life, and that was to create.
Prince, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Sheesh, well in order to know me, we’d have to start in the 2nd grade. I placed 2nd place in the nation in a short story-tellers contest, granted I didn’t win, I felt so accomplished to have made it that far with just my words, and for a kid who loved to just play video games and be outside? If I could accomplish creating worlds and moving people with my words, without moving? It would give me so much time to participate in the things that required movement lol. My love for words then evolved over the years, from stories, to comics, church plays, poetry, which brought me to music. The fusion of all of those elements are the core genetic makeup of what drives my company and allows me to assist clients in seeing how possible things can come to fruition. Staying true to the process has been one of my proudest moments, and my ability to encourage those that I work with, to understand that the same thing can be achieved with just the right amount of work put in. From a surface level, I’d have to say completing my first sitcom with a group of elementary kids, watching their growth through the work we did together is/was moving. When it comes to my brand, people know that I am a man of integrity, I’m willing to see a process through to the end, no matter the hurdles that will arise, I will push you to be the best you that you can be, and I’m always willing to pivot, because life is ever changing, and that has to be understood.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Oh man, as I currently type this, I have been living in an an apartment with no electricity for almost a year, now whereas it has an impact on my creative nature, my drive to complete what I set out to do, oddly enough has given me more light than ever. I truly believe that in the darkest times, is when one shines the brightest, and no matter how dim the light, in the darkness it still shines. To be able to continually overcome these hurdles, all whilst building a business organically? Has shown me a level of resiliency that I didn’t even know I possessed or existed within me, but I guess pressure makes diamonds right? lol
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I have a multitude of goals and I mean a MULTITUDE when it comes to the mission on my journey, however, I’d be remised, if I didn’t keep it completely transparent. My core goal, is to truly live out the dream of young prince, that little boy who saw himself working for Nickelodeon, also wanted a family, a loving one, very reminiscent to those sitcoms of the 90’s. The freedom to explore the world with my family, achieve goals, shift the trajectory of my family’s legacy, create new generational traditions, loving ones, light hearted ones, humorous ones. In short, exploring the world with my family and giving them every opportunity to be successful as possible.
