We caught up with the brilliant and insightful PRINCE GAUTIER MASKOTT a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, PRINCE GAUTIER thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
it comes from the education that my parents had given me, who kept telling me never to wait for things to happen, to always take things in hand to realize my dreams and that no one will do it for me, they taught me how to be a leader so having had this style of education from the age of 8 I already knew what I wanted either to succeed in sport because I was very talented in sport or music because I did both and today I am artist musician singer dancer and boss of my production label called MMP PRODUCTION label specializing in urban, afro-urban, African and Caribbean music
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I entered the field of music, through dance and more specifically hip hop dance, later with fellow dancers we created Afro urban dance which at the start was a mixture of Congolese dance (n’dombolo) with hip hop dance and at the time of this creation we are at the end of the year 1999 beginning of 2000 I specify that we were recognized with this style in 2004 with the first group of afro urban dances called JAM AND CO then later we have worked with different known and unknown artists and made different known halls in France and abroad it was in 2007 that I started singing and I decided to go and learn music at the source in my country of origin in congo brazzaville which is a country where there is a lot of talent where the music in this country is like football in brazil, I specify that on the other side in congo kinshasa the trend is the same what distinguishes me in my job is that I am someone very perfectionist in my work but the most is that there is no limit for me everything is possible you just have to put in the work and believe in yourself, and this quality that many people want to work with me collaborated or do a featuring or that I produce them, I inform you that I would like my production label to become like motown internationally I will get there
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
give life to these projects and make them known to the whole world, traveled and discovered other horizons to make new acquaintances thanks to my job but the most important point is that our work is recognized by the whole world
I take this opportunity to thank my stylist fabrice zaady (ZAADY COLLECTION) and KOSSIVI PREMIER as well as the brand of CHAMPAGNE AA PRESTIGE which is my official sponsor
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
we must not be closed to advice from the outside sometimes even a stranger who can guide us roughly we must never judge a person by his appearance
