We were lucky to catch up with Presley Bassinger recently and have shared our conversation below.
Presley, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you manage your own social media?
Once I opened my salon I knew almost immediately I could no longer do it myself. In my eyes having someone who can focus on getting all of the angles of content, editing, posting and engaging with others to grow our page and clientele base was a crucial must have. We both have access to social media accounts but my social media girl handles the most important parts of keeping it going! We have since gained so many followers as well as new clients from the type of content we post, it’s been very beneficial having someone who understands what your goal is!
I would do your research and find someone who fits your style and exactly what you’re looking for when it comes to posting/content, etc. and having someone who can help build a package that works for you is also key! The amount of stress my social media girl has taken off of me has been life changing, running a business is hard, stressful and time consuming, but having someone who can take one thing off your plate is something I find worth the price. My advice to you is if you can find it in your budget, start looking, not only will it help grow your business but take extra stress off of you!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi there! My name is Presley Bassinger, I am a 30 year old hairstylist and salon owner located in Burleson, Tx. I have a salon of 10 amazing women, who all do so many different services, but something we specialize in are blondes and extensions. Personally I have been doing hair for 12 years, and I focus on extension services, my goal is to show clients that they can be healthy with proper care, I also love to educate people on how seamless extensions really can be with the right education and the right stylist.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
TikTok, I obviously post on instagram and Facebook as well, but I really feel like TikTok is where most of my new clientele is coming from. It is the one app I’m constantly scrolling on everyday so why not post while I’m on it? I’ve met some really amazing clients off of it!

Any advice for managing a team?
It all stems from you and what you allow. If you want a positive workspace you as the owner/manager have to share positivity. As well as remembering that asking your team what you can do to help them achieve a goal, or make something easier on them! I wouldn’t be a salon owner without all the amazing girls I work with who have believed in me and hyped me up along the way as I have navigated this new ownership.
