We were lucky to catch up with Preme Archives recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Preme thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My mission statement is simply to create a sense of community for artist & creatives in my city and hopefully all over the world one day. We’re literally all living the same life just in different ways but no one’s talking about how it feels anymore it’s like the high & lows don’t matter anymore but I believe people need an outlet where they feel seen & understood.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a 25 year old artist from Atlanta, Ga & I’ve been pursuing music pretty much my whole life. In my time I’ve worked with a few labels, made a ton of music that people may or may not have heard & traveled to a few cities learning myself, the industry & life in general. I established my record label earlier this year (lifeafterdeath Records) after deciding to go independent for the first time & it’s been the best decision I’ve made so far. I’ve built a community of creatives that support each other, I showcase local talent in my music/videos & I mentor artist from time to time. I think the most important aspect of creating your own identity is the discipline that comes with it like the late nights & early mornings. You’ll be broke the majority of the time so you’ll have to find real motivation everyday to get up and keep pushing. You’ll have to overcome lack of support, humility & failure but it’s all apart of the journey. I believe the mental pressures that come with achieving anything in life is the reason most people fall short but you have to be strong. You’ll find God at some point and when you do you have to start praying for everything, everyday because he’s the answer to all of the things that will take place in your career, honest. I’m still building the empire but I remember where I started so I’m grateful for everything it is and will be.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I honestly believe that my music speaks for itself & that’s why I’ve been around for so long. It doesn’t matter how people may feel about you as a person because the art is right there in their faces & when it’s undeniable it’s not much to say.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to stop going against my own heart because that’s when the road got rocky. Everything that’s meant for you is out there and that gut feeling is never wrong. Use your intuition in difficult situations and always go to where you feel you should be.
