We were lucky to catch up with Precious Vassol recently and have shared our conversation below.

Precious, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?

My hero is undoubtedly my father. He owned a painting and construction company called G.A.P., which stood for God’s Anointed Plan. In addition to running his business, he pastored a church and served as a Regional Overseer for churches in the Midwest. His life was a testament to perseverance, faith, and the importance of keeping God first in all endeavors.

In November 2022, my father passed away. Since then, his spirit has been a guiding force in my life and business. He was my biggest supporter, always encouraging me to pursue my passions wholeheartedly. His commitment to excellence is a standard I strive to uphold daily.

One of his frequent reminders to me was, “Slow down, Precious.” As a mother, full-time business owner, and student, life often feels overwhelming. In these moments, I hear his gentle admonition, reminding me to pace myself and maintain balance.

Reflecting on his life, I’m reminded of the profound impact a parent can have on their child’s resilience and dedication. I find strength in my father’s teachings and examples. His legacy continues to influence my journey, instilling in me the values of faith, perseverance, and excellence.

I am a certified lash artist with over five years of experience, passionate about enhancing natural beauty through customized lash services. Currently, I am pursuing my esthetics license to expand my service offerings.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.

In October 2019, I embarked on my journey into the lash industry by completing a certification course. Initially, I offered lash services on the side while maintaining my full-time job. By October 2021, I decided to test the viability of transitioning to lashes full-time. I took two weeks of paid time off and committed to marketing myself extensively on social media to fill my schedule during that period. The response was overwhelming, and I was fully booked throughout those two weeks. This success gave me the confidence to resign from my full-time position and dedicate myself entirely to my lash business. Since then, I have continued to leverage social media marketing to grow my clientele and expand my services.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been leveraging social media marketing. By consistently showcasing my work, engaging with followers, and utilizing targeted advertising on platforms like Instagram and Facebook, I’ve been able to reach a wider audience and attract new clients. This approach has been instrumental in building a strong online presence and establishing credibility in the beauty industry.

Implementing a loyalty program has further incentivized existing clients to continue being loyal clients and also refer my services to others, contributing to steady growth in my clientele. By combining these strategies, I’ve been able to effectively grow my client base and establish a thriving business.
