We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Precious Gause a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Precious , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
I’ve always been into beauty since high school, so this is second nature to me. It wasn’t until after high school that I felt I wanted to take this beauty thing a little more seriously by providing services to people to enhance their beauty and make a woman feel like a woman, so I started Miajanaebeauty, where I provide eyebrow waxing, facial waxing, eyebrow tinting, lace wig installments, hair coloring services, and more. I feel like if you love something and have this vision, executing it, having a business is always a risk, but you as a person have to endure. You will have highs and you will definitely have some lows. It took me years to develop a true entrepreneur mindset to where On my slow days, I don’t get too much in my feelings because I know it’s part of the process. I really put myself through this roller coaster of looking at others flourishing and basically determining my success off of theirs, and you shouldn’t do that at all because I feel as though you really stunt your success by comparing yourself to others. I had to learn that it may look easy for everyone and it may look as if everything falls into their hands, but “I,” Precious Gause, have to actually work hard and get dirty for it, and that’s because God is telling me you will have a real story to tell. You are not like others. It’s not going to be easy for you because you will tell your struggle story. So just endure and do the work. God is trying to get me out of this laziness. Being lazy as well can stunt your growth because being an entrepreneur means you’re never off, so it’s much harder than having a regular job. Work does not stop for you.So I say all of this to say: take that risk; life is all about taking chances, and it will all work out for the good. I don’t consider myself perfect. I’m still a work in process. Don’t let people or social media determine your success story. Let your blood, sweat, and tears show the work.

My name is Precious Gause. I am the Founder and CEO of Miajanaebeauty (Miya-Juh-Nay-beauty). I provide many services and will be diving into everything. I want to be a one-stop shop where you can get any service related to beauty possible. I want people to know that I built this from the ground up by myself. I don’t have any workers because I wanted to be able to learn everything and do everything for my people on my own. I feel as though my hands are gifted and are able to do anything I put my mind to. God created me this way. I have multiple talents that I would love to dive into and just beat the odds while still being this humble, shy little woman that I am today. Miajanaebeauty will have a success story no matter how long it takes. I am determined to get my name out there because it’s more than money. This is a craft that I love. I enjoy making women feel beautiful. I enjoy the tears. I enjoy the pictures I get from them. Embracing the results makes me feel like this is what I am supposed to be doing. In the coming years, I intend to open a summer camp to assist young children in determining what they truly want to do with their lives. I feel it will make them more sure of what they want to be. Yea, we have school, but it doesn’t really teach us about life.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I am promoting on Tiktok and Instagram by just being consistent with content and being creative with my work. I feel like you have to really just not think about it so much and just put it out there. People are watching. just when you think they aren’t. They are. Whether you get one like or five likes, keep pushing and keep promoting. So many people have dm me and said I see you keep going. I never knew how many people were watching, but that’s the thing. Don’t care who’s watching, do it for you and that’s what I’m learning.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I keep up with clients on Instagram and have them engaged in my posts by voting and just letting me know what they would like to see more of because it’s not about me in the end. I’m here to please and service them and I’ll have little discounts and giveaways to show them I see you supporting I see you.
