Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Praveer Gangwani. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Praveer, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
During my senior of high school I signed up for the first semester sewing class. The first few projects were pretty basic, but I got the hang of using a sewing machine… I thought it was pretty easy to follow a line and I started to enjoy class. I signed up for the second semester class and would end up sewing for half the day every day that last semester. I would leave my third period to go so sew because my teacher had a dead period, so while she was chilling and eating lunch, I was sewing & vibing.
In order to speed up my learning process I should have gotten into reading books and understanding more about the developmental process behind clothing…I still should. I hit certain basics with my teacher, but through time I saw how pieces can intertwine and go together. I learned a lot of skills working with my upholstery boss. Working along his side as an apprentice, I was able to gain the knowledge of creating patterns, sewing, cutting techniques, and just overall practical ideology that should be known when creating or deconstructing. Doing this type of work to helped transform my understanding of how our every day items have such potential and the amount of time behind the detail that many do not see.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Praveer Gangwani, the creator of Gangwani Collection LLC. From the city of arts & innovation Winston-Salem, North Carolina. As part of the class of 2023, with a concentration in Stage Properties; I obtained a BFA under the School of Design & Production at UNC School of the Arts. While I may have been production designing and a prop master for film, fashion stayed as a creative outlet. I am using the knowledge and skills I obtained through school & experiences to emphasize on my creative expression.
I would like to classify my fashion as streetwear couture. I’m taking a blend of niche items whether I may be upcycling jeans, military articles, or creating something entirely from scratch… every time I create I tend to freestyle, go off the top. The whole identity behind my logo/imagery of the company is “ONESELF”. To be “ONESELF” is solely based off of the pure thought and raw emotion during the creative processing of ideas by making them come to reality. Whenever I create, I am creating through a passion whether it is my fashion, a painting, setting a scene…I am trying to not only “wow” myself, but to have that “wow” factor when people initially see.
As of now, in terms of what I provide is a one of one exclusive service. You come to me you get measured you select the fabrics we talk ideas emotions where we going what direction are we taking this? Ohh, you want me to do my thing? Freestyle? Style? Photoshoot? I am trying to create a satisfactory like no other for those that can appreciate the craftsmanship and the vision. As an artist, I am offering my ideas, value and overall decisiveness. You can see my current available selection of pieces at https://gangwanicollection.com/ although I am open and keen to working with many other types of mediums.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Let the creative be creative! When I have no limitations, I create my best work and I’m sure many others can relate. You just put me in a room with tools machines different materials, and the ideas are going to immediately start flowing in all different directions. This happens every single time I’m in venue or visiting a city or small town. Certain things will vibrate into my existence and when I get the feeling or have a constant thought of that specific entity I have to act & elaborate on them.
As a creative if you’re curious don’t be afraid to ask questions. If you aim to support us, don’t hate and try to understand what you’re looking at because sometimes what’s in viewpoint may not be as deep as what it seems to be or have more dexterity than you could fathom.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Rather than obtaining multiple positions on projects and spending so much time to create someone else’s vision, I’d rather emphasize on my own while doing so in a passionate state. I wanted to start my own company, so I did officially in 2024.
The goal or mission is to leave behind an aura or recognizable ethic through my creations. I want not something but to be remembered based upon my creative expression.
