We recently connected with Pratibha Dey and have shared our conversation below.
Pratibha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
My abortion during the time I was homeless and escaping a domestic violence relationship. Using my resiliency to build my brand, Chai Together, to help others.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve always had domestic violence as a part of my life and I didn’t know the terms regarding mental health scenarios or physical ailments on a spiritual/ soulful level. Through having a mother who is schizophrenic and my own journey of survival to thriving, I’ve been able to launch my first retail product, our mug for Chai Together, hand made logo by me during the time I was recovering from my abortion and making sense of my life. I started video podcasting, public speaking on suicide prevention, and traveling to make an impact. I hosted classes 1:1 to guide and mentor individuals through their challenges. I am not a clinician, but I am a healer. My story sets me apart to anywho who hears it, because they have never heard a story like mine before in detail. I want anyone who hears my voice through my brand, to not harm themselves…
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Your ability to speak your truth, with Courage, Hope, and Inspiration. Life is not a pity or a excuse to feel sorry for yourself, it is what you design with force and abundance.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to and still am learning that I don’t need to be so strong all alone. The backstory is my CPTS (Complex Post Traumatic Stress) and now PTS only. I have my partner to thank for this, for being by my side to help me heal my trauma and for me to face myself and see other perspectives than the ones I have only known true to me. Thank you Hector. I love you.
