Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Pranav Aditya. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Pranav, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
For Class on Netflix India:
This was a project that allowed me to immerse myself in a story that blended the complexities of youth with the stark realities of societal divides. As an assistant music composer, I was responsible for helping craft the sonic landscape that reflected the intensity and emotional depth of the characters. This experience was significant because it allowed me to explore a variety of musical genres, blending traditional Indian sounds with more modern, electronic elements. The process of creating the score required a deep understanding of the narrative, as well as close collaboration with the main composer and the production team. Seeing how the music elevated the storytelling was incredibly rewarding and solidified my passion for composing for visual media.
For Shakunthalam:
Working on Shakunthalam as an assistant music composer and arranger was another significant milestone in my career. This South Indian film, with its rich cultural and mythological themes, required a grand and nuanced score. My role involved assisting in the composition of the music and arranging it to fit the various moods and scenes throughout the film. The challenge was staying true to the traditional roots of the story while also bringing a contemporary feel to the music. This project was meaningful to me because it allowed me to connect with my cultural heritage on a deeper level, and it was a testament to my growth as a composer and arranger. The intricate process of working on the music for such a large-scale production taught me valuable lessons in creativity, collaboration, and the power of music in storytelling.
Both projects were pivotal in shaping my career and reinforcing my dedication to creating music that resonates with audiences on an emotional level.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My journey into the world of music began at the age of 17 when I first discovered the magic of electronic music. Growing up, my passion for music was deeply influenced by the diverse sounds around me—ranging from traditional Indian music to the pulsating beats of electronic genres. My fascination with sound and composition led me to pursue a career as a music composer and producer.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work in various capacities within the music industry, gaining experience as an assistant music composer and arranger for notable projects like the South Indian movie Shakunthalam and the Netflix India series Class. These experiences have shaped my understanding of how music can profoundly influence storytelling, allowing me to develop a unique style that blends the rich cultural heritage of Indian music with contemporary electronic elements.
As a music producer, I create electronic music under the artist name Zh4, where I explore a blend of soothing soundscapes with influences from house, techno, and deep house. My compositions often fuse Indian rhythms and melodies with modern electronic beats, creating a sound that’s both familiar and innovative. I’m passionate about crafting music that not only entertains but also evokes emotions and connects with listeners on a deeper level.
What sets me apart from others in the industry is my ability to merge diverse musical influences into cohesive and immersive soundscapes. Whether I’m working on a film score, a TV series, or my own music productions, my focus is always on creating a sound that resonates with the audience. I take pride in my versatility as a composer and producer, as well as my commitment to pushing creative boundaries.
I’m most proud of the journey that has brought me to where I am today—from the challenges I faced breaking into the industry to the exciting projects I’ve had the honor of contributing to. Each experience has taught me invaluable lessons and helped me grow as an artist.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Grants and Subsidies: Governments and private organizations can provide grants, subsidies, and funding opportunities specifically tailored for artists and creatives. These funds can help cover the costs of projects, living expenses, and materials, allowing artists to focus on their work without the constant pressure of financial instability.
Fair Compensation: Ensuring that artists are fairly compensated for their work is crucial. This includes advocating for fair pay in all sectors where creative work is involved, from music streaming royalties to payment for public performances and exhibitions.
Arts Education: Integrating arts education into school curriculums from an early age encourages creativity and helps young people recognize and nurture their artistic talents. Providing access to quality arts education at all levels is essential.
Mentorship Programs: Establishing mentorship programs where experienced artists can guide emerging talent is a powerful way to support the next generation of creatives. These programs can help young artists navigate the industry, develop their skills, and build valuable connections.
Workshops and Training: Offering affordable or free workshops, training sessions, and online courses can help artists continue to develop their craft and learn new skills, keeping them competitive in a rapidly changing industry.
Creative Spaces: Providing affordable or free access to creative spaces, such as studios, rehearsal rooms, and performance venues, is vital. These spaces offer artists the environment they need to create and collaborate.
Tools and Equipment: Access to the necessary tools, equipment, and technology can significantly impact an artist’s ability to produce high-quality work. Community resource centers that offer these tools can be invaluable.
Mental Health Resources: Providing mental health resources and support for artists is essential, as the creative process can often be emotionally taxing. Access to counseling, therapy, and peer support networks can make a significant difference in the well-being of creatives.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative is the ability to translate emotions, ideas, and experiences into something tangible that can resonate with others. The process of creating music—whether it’s composing a new piece, producing a track, or arranging a score—offers a unique form of expression that allows me to communicate in ways words often can’t.
One of the most fulfilling moments is seeing how my music impacts others, whether it’s providing a sense of comfort, evoking deep emotions, or simply bringing joy to someone’s day. Knowing that something I created can connect with people on such a personal level is incredibly gratifying.
Another rewarding aspect is the constant evolution and learning that comes with being creative. Every project presents new challenges and opportunities to explore different sounds, techniques, and styles. This ongoing journey of discovery keeps the work fresh and exciting, and it’s a reminder that there’s always room to grow and push boundaries.
Finally, being able to contribute to a larger narrative—whether through film, television, or my music projects—is something I’m deeply passionate about. Music has the power to enhance storytelling, create atmosphere, and leave a lasting impression on audiences. Being part of that process and seeing the final product come together is truly rewarding.
