We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Prahaan Padhiar. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Prahaan below.
Prahaan, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made (either in terms of time or money)? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
The best investment I’ve ever made was enrolling in acting school. Although I’d always dreamed of becoming an actor, the decision initially felt daunting, both personally and financially. In hindsight, I’m incredibly grateful I took the leap. Immersing myself in my craft for an extended period, surrounded by passionate instructors and like-minded peers, allowed me to grow in ways I never expected. The experience not only honed my skills but also deepened my love for the art.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve always loved performing and writing. After completing my education, it became clear to me that I had to follow that passion. Writing my own skits and performing in both contemporary and classical plays has been incredibly fulfilling. Some of the dramatic roles I’ve loved portraying include Macbeth in Macbeth and Norman in SubUrbia. However, comedy is where my heart truly lies. I’ve had the pleasure of playing Baptista in The Taming of the Shrew, Egeus and Theseus in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, as well as contemporary characters like Brian in Joking Apart, Max Prince in Laughter on the 23rd Floor, and Junior in Dearly Departed. Having always been the class clown, comedic plays better showcase who I really am. But above all, I’m most proud of the bold decision I made to travel to the United States to fully pursue my dream of acting. It was a leap that has shaped who I am today.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
The most effective way society can support artists is by creating an environment that fully embraces art in all its forms. Artists should be free to express themselves without the fear of backlash or judgment. When they have the space to explore and create without restrictions, it not only empowers the artists but also enriches the community at large. A culture of acceptance and encouragement allows art to flourish, inspiring innovation and sparking important conversations that can drive societal progress.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
One thing I wish I had discovered earlier in my creative journey is the power of meditation. Incorporating it into my daily routine has helped me quiet my mind, cultivate inner calm, and build resilience to life’s inevitable ups and downs. In a competitive industry like acting, meditation has been invaluable—it allows me to clear mental clutter and stay grounded, helping me stay focused and present rather than getting caught up in self-doubt or external pressure. I wish I had known about it earlier!
