We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Portia Hambrick. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Portia below.
Portia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Any thoughts about whether to ask friends and family to support your business. What’s okay in your view?
I am lucky enough to have a mother and cousins that support me and my modeling journey. My mom, of course, is my number 1 fan. She supports me the most and has my best interest in mind when it comes to helping me with modeling. She has been a huge help financially in helping, but most importantly she is supportive emotionally for me. She is always there to give me advice and listen to me vent. I am also lucky to have such supportive friends like I do. They are the best when it comes to sharing my work, sending me ideas, helping me make decisions, and boosting my confidence. My friends and cousins have been watching my journey over the last 2 years and tell me all the time how proud they are of me, and how I need to keep it up. I’m so grateful for my circle of support, my village. I’m not sure where I would be in modeling now without them.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Portia I am turning 27 this year and I am an upcoming model. I started towards the end of 2020 during COVID as hobby, but I soon fell in-love with modeling and now I have been doing photoshoots every weekend for almost 2 years now. I can model several different concepts from high fashion, boudoir, and lifestyle to fitness and cosplay! I want people to know that I am a hard worker and I am very dedicated to perfecting my craft. I am always open to learning new things, meeting new people, and growing as a person in this industry.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Social media for sure! Everyone has a Facebook, Instagram, snapchat, or twitter if not all of the above, so posting my work on social media helps me reach new clients the best!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Seeing the end results! All of the stress that I endure during the process is well worth it when the photographers send over the RAW photos or the edited photos back.
