We were lucky to catch up with Porsha Ellis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Porsha , thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Meet Porsha Ellis (she/her/hers)💕
A life-long student with a zest for learning and a passion for personal development, growth, and community. She serves her passions as the CEO of Black Girls Conquer All, Vice President of Community Outreach at Jim Reynolds Asphalt Contractor, Inc. (a family-owned business), and as a Kentucky Mobile Notary. She is also a mother of three who prides herself on her commitment to ongoing growth through personal development and the empowerment of other women. One product of these commitments is Black Girls Conquers All, founded as a resource for other women and derived out of her personal experiences with mental health, self-esteem, and single motherhood.
Meet Black Girls Conquer All💜
Established in 2018, the BGCA platform was founded to cultivate diverse groups of women through monthly and quarterly engagement events and resources that seek to educate and empower women in life and business while providing opportunities for growth in both areas. We offer expressive activities and atmospheres that include, but are not limited to: paint workshops, panel discussions, business development courses, brunches, dinner parties, and more. These events and environments offer opportunities to explore a variety of topics that nurture positive, transparent conversations while building meaningful relationships. BGCA’s mission is to continue to nurture a culture that encompasses women of all ages and backgrounds to feel empowered, build healthy, uplifting relationships, and celebrate success one event at a time.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
During this journey I had to unlearn a poverty mindset. I had to believe in not only myself but others to push forward towards my goals.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I started hosting panel discussions with my own funds and after a few events started requesting sponsorships.
