We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Pooja Arshanapally. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Pooja below.
Pooja, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
I figured out this service by accident. I started in social media marketing but felt stuck because I wanted to focus on a specific market. I love reading, so I began working with authors and realized they could do much more with their books than just relying on sales to determine the success of the book.
Once I was on to something then I started going to events where alot of authors would attend like public speaking, conferences, podcast etc and I would their eyes light up when they hear my service. And I remember one time I was speaking on a panel and one of the audience member said that my service was “powerful” and from then on I learned that I was on to something.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I help authors repurpose their books content into different media formats. For example, taking a book and converting it into social media posts, articles, workshop etc.
In the publishing industry, regardless if you are traditional or self-published building a platform is crucial to selling the book. And even sometimes if you sell the book, it does not guarantee that people will read it.
My services help spread the mission and concepts into different platforms so it can extend the reach of the audience without having to spend so much time reinventing the wheel.
My mission to help authors who have a mission make a bigger impact through spreading the mission through different medium to build an influence so people can take action.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When I first started, I was just showing up and I didn’t know what to post. I was just posting and staying consistent. People started to notice. Don’t overthink it. If you are going for a walk, take a picture and create a post about it.
One book that helped create a ton of ideas was Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon. And after that book, I can’t shut my brain off with the amount of ideas that flowing through me.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Just because someone is ahead of you business, it doesn’t mean they know what is right for you. Managing a business is different for everyone. What I would encourage is to find a mentor or someone you want to mimic their career. Then try to figure out the step by step things they did, and try to follow their path.
