We were lucky to catch up with Polly Cocilobo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Polly, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I went to fashion production school which is a career in fashion offered in Buenos Aires, Argentina where I’ve been taught how to be a fashion stylist, an image consultant, a personal stylist, also how to produce a fashion show and work for the creative team as a main lead fashion stylist in an editorial.
Essentials skills to be a problem solver, have a plan b, and be ready to actioned and be creative in a fast space environment.
Obstacles, that can come up are when a model pulls off a project or doesn’t show up and same with a brand/designer. So we have to always be prepared to come up with another plan.

Polly, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Polly, a fashion stylist/producer and writer originally from Argentina. I started my fashion career in Maui, Hawaii working as a lead fashion stylist for photographers from all over the world and I got to work at the first Hawaii Fashion week in Honolulu by the side of Fern Mallis (creator of NYFW) among very talented and known fashion designers. I also participated in a photography workshop with Vogue photographer Lara Jade.
I’m most proud of currently styling NFL players from the Seahawks team for an upcoming fashion editorial photoshoot where I get to be the lead stylist and created and design their looks.
My services as a professional fashion stylist go from personal shopping, image consultant, fashion styling for editorials and also visual merchandising for businesses in the retail industry.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I moved to Maui, Hawaii right after I graduated from fashion school. I was only 22 years old, left my family and home in Argentina to persue the American Dream and make my fashion dreams come true.
I had to start from zero, worked a lot for free to build up my portfolio and worked my way up by connecting with international designers and photographers from all over the worlds.
Leaving your own home, family your comfort zone takes a lot of bravery and most of all you have to be resilience to never give up and continue to persue your dreams even all in your own.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Having a vision come to life and when it exceeds your own expectations.
Also working with a dream team where the editor of the magazine trusts you and gives you full freedom to explore your creativity and make decisions.
