We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Polin Huang a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Polin, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I like art since I was young. I drew lots with crayons and had fun with sketchbooks. Art was in my life, but I only thought of it as a job later.
On a trip to an art fair with my folks, I saw so much art. Each piece had a tale. It hit me then how much art meant to me.
It did not hit me all at once. It took time. As I walked through the fair, I felt close to the art and the folks who made it. I knew I had to be a part of that world.
From then, I took my art more hard. I went to art class, put in lots of work, and dreamed of an art job. It’s been tough, but that fair day is big to me. It’s why I chose this path and why I see so much chance in it.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My journey into the world of art started at a young age, surrounded by colors, shapes, and the endless possibilities of creativity. From those early doodles to exploring different mediums, art has always been my way of expressing myself and understanding the world around me.
Over the years, I’ve poured my heart and soul into honing my art, learning from every brushstroke and experimenting with new techniques. My art is like a window into my soul, reflecting my experiences, beliefs, and the things that matter most to me.
One of the things I’m proudest of is having my work showcased in some incredible galleries and receiving recognition for my contributions to the art community. It’s been a journey filled with highs and lows, but every moment has been worth it to see the impact my art can have on others.
What sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity and innovation. I’m always pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with art, exploring new ideas and challenging myself to grow as an artist. But at the end of the day, it’s the personal connection I make with each piece that drives me forward.
I’m excited to continue sharing my passion with the world and connecting with people through art. Whether it’s sparking conversations or simply bringing a smile to someone’s face, I believe that art has the power to change lives, and I’m honored to be a part of that journey.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My creative journey is deeply rooted in a mission to challenge societal norms and foster authenticity. Through my art, I aim to dismantle stereotypes, confront social constructs, and encourage viewers to embrace their true selves. Each piece I create is a step towards promoting inclusivity, empowering individuals, and sparking meaningful conversations about identity, culture, and the human experience.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the ability to express myself authentically and connect with others on a deep and emotional level through my work. There’s a sense of fulfillment that comes from knowing that my art has the power to evoke emotions, spark conversations, and resonate with people in meaningful ways. It’s incredibly gratifying to see how my creations can impact others, whether it’s bringing joy, provoking thought, or inspiring change. Additionally, the creative process itself brings immense joy and satisfaction, as each new project is an opportunity for exploration, discovery, and growth. Overall, being an artist allows me to tap into my innermost thoughts and feelings, share them with the world, and make a positive impact through creativity.
