New release called Goodboy about a girl and her dog
PJ, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started playing music around age 10 after being inspired to learn guitar from Keith Urban and John Mayer. I started a band in middle school called eagle creek and continued to play music in bands until the end of college. I then moved to Nashville to pursue a career in songwriting.
I am releasing my own music and have many unreleased songs I hope to get cut by a major artist like many other songwriters in Nashville. I believe what sets me apart from the others is the creative spirit I pour into my songs. Yes I want it to be authentic and based on real stories and experiences in my life but that also involves the fun and funny parts not just the heartbreak or sad moments. Music can relate to so many different emotions and experiences, as a writer I strive to cover all of those.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Listen. Listen. Listen. It cost nothing for someone to listen and every listen goes a very long way for the artist. You don’t have to love the songs but on the chance that you do connect to it, it could be a great way to find some new artists and continue to support them at no cost but your time.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Knowing that someone has connected to a song. I love to create music and the poetry of song out of nothing but an idea. When the listener is able to connect and enjoys that experience based on something we were able to create in the writing room, that is the most rewarding part.
