We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Pinky Guerrero. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Pinky below.
Hi Pinky, thanks for joining us today. So, what do you think about family businesses? Would you want your children or other family members to one day join your business?
Mark-It-Pink came about because of Family. I created Mark-It-Pink because of the earlier times of the pandemic; I was working a full-time job, was struggling to balance three kids’ online schooling, and wasn’t meeting either expectation without facing burnout. I needed the ability to be a Mom first and foremost and to be able to do my work second.
My cousin, Christian Salumbides, is currently interning at Mark-It-Pink as a part of his senior college course; I am always open to sharing what I know and helping others learn in this field. And I’m happy to be able to be on this journey with my cousin as he pursues his own career goals and dreams.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Digital marketing is my passion. I aim to serve as a medium between brand and consumer. The topics and media I select for clients are tailored to their unique identities. Using data, analytics, and storytelling techniques, I then develop and implement content and marketing strategies that achieve their goals with you in mind.
The greatest honors I’ve received include being featured on BuzzFeed, Yahoo!, Allwomenstalk.com, and Thought Catalog. My experience ranges from working with professional sports teams, cosmetic brands, and companies to jewelry chains and influencers (micro/macro/mega) and celebrities such as Paris Hilton. In the past year (2020-2021), three of my clients and their social media platforms have taken home awards on both national and international levels.
Outside of marketing, I enjoy spending time with my family, including my husband, Ric, and our three children, Skyler, Spencer, and Katelynn. I also enjoy spending time with my three dogs – Rally, Ollie, and Bear. Watching movies, scuba diving, traveling, and playing board games are among my favorite activities! I also enjoy reading and listening to podcasts. Kayaking and anything related to water is my other favorite pastimes. Spending time outdoors and snowboarding are also on that list. In my free time, I also participate in community service projects. My family and I established a non-profit called #GuerreroPartyof5!
I’m excited to assist you in your digital marketing journey! Thank you for being here!

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
Originally Mark-It-Pink was a side hustle; I was freelancing for a few years! It wasn’t until I was working my first “big girl” job that the pandemic began. I struggled to juggle a full-time job while being a Mom and helping my three kids transition to online schooling. I found myself having frequent burnouts, and it was just unhealthy.
I decided to take that leap of faith as I had already been freelancing; I had built a network of connections. Which I believe was vital to my success in starting Mark-It-Pink. I also had the knowledge and expertise in specific areas that were key to assisting during the pandemic. So, with that in mind, I jumped, not knowing what the outcome would be, and luckily for me, it worked out, and Mark-It-Pink became a full-functioning business.
Some key milestones would be obtaining the first clients, seeing the services in action and work, and hitting our first six-figure month!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
As a first-time business owner, I had to learn quickly! One of the hardest things I had to unlearn was being a “yes, person.” I would do too much for little and didn’t have the healthy boundaries set up. I wouldn’t value my time, my worth, or my services. I would just do it.
I learned very quickly and early on that it was a habit I had to unlearn, or it would be the demise of Mark-It-Pink. I was lucky to have colleagues who helped guide me in this matter. Moving forward, I am more aware of my worth, value, and time. Most importantly, I set those boundaries early on so that I am successful in all that I do.
