Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Pink Light. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Pink Light thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Jonny: The most meaningful project to date has been the completion of my first album – Your Gravity Belongs To Me Now.
Creating and releasing an album has been my dream since I’ve been playing and writing music. The lessons I learned throughout this album creation journey gave this process the most meaning.
The inspiration for the album came after I had accepted that I was no longer going to write and perform music. When the pandemic hit, I had the opportunity to take a look inside myself and reconnect with my creativity. I came to the realization that I was queer. Once I accepted this about myself, I embarked on a new path that was led by authenticity.
In the writing of the album, I connected with a darkness within. This darkness was fueled by fear and sadness that had taken control of my life. The album documents the journey of destroying the old version of myself to become the person I am destined to be.
The release of the album brought new opportunities to collaborate. This helped me connect in new ways with my partner, Peanut. As Peanut began helping with the development of Pink Light’s visual identity, they quickly proved to be a renaissance human and joined the group. They lended their incredible talents to give birth to the gothic duo that Pink Light is today.
Peanut: Helping Jonny promote the album was our first collaboration on Pink Light so that experience will always be the most meaningful project to me. I have a background in visual arts and we both enjoy horror so Jonny asked for my help making the promo videos. This started our journey as a duo when we discovered we worked really well together and had a harmonious relationship co-creating. From there, I started to lend my other talents to Pink Light like set dressing, choreographing, styling, and singing. It’s been a beautiful collaboration and I’m looking forward to the future!

Pink Light, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Pink Light is a synthpop band lead by Latina-American multimedia artist Jonny Kreimerman. Conceived in 2015 as a 4-piece Post-Punk outfit in Boston MA, the project moved to Los Angeles and evolved into an electronic synthpop duo with a deep connection to Spanish and English-singing Darkwave, Post-Punk, and Latin Freestyle.
Throughout the eras of Pink Light, Jonny has collaborated with audio and visual artists to curate the vision for the group. Since the release of the synthpop-horror debut album – Your Gravity Belongs To Me Now, Pink Light is performing as a gothic duo with cursed visuals & haunted choreography drenched in the healing energy of love, nostalgia, and Queer-Latine Excellence.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Self-expression and connecting with people who resonate with our art. The friendships we’ve made through this process have led us to finding community <3

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Not creating the art that we would want to see. I think many people are influenced by what they think others will connect with instead of being true to themselves. When you sacrifice that authenticity, your art will not be a true reflection of your strengths. This inhibits real connection with the people who hear the music.
