We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Pimptress. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Pimptress below.
Pimptress, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Oh God!! I honestly think I knew I wanted to be a singer when I was about 5 years old! I remember all my moms friends saying ” Wow you have a star on your hands” and ” She can really sing”! I always walked around singing my favorite songs from my favorite artist! High-school was when I realized I wanted to also pursue rapping. I was always a good writer. I wrote poetry so I knew I’d be a good story teller when it not when I came to putting lyrics together

Pimptress, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a female rapper/singer/songwriter. I go by the name of Pimptress. I’m from Clearwater, Florida a small city outside of Tampa Bay. When I first started taking music serious, I joined a rap group with 3 guys from my neighborhood that I grew up with. One of the group members gave me the name Pimptress which I didn’t like at first at all but it was catchy and everyone loved it so I kept the name. It fit who I was at the time! Since then I became a solo artist and I’ve been continuing to pursue music ever since. I’ve performed all over the world still to this day. I’ve opened for alot of major artist. I also model and I’m pursuing acting as well. I truly wanna be an entrepreneur. I don’t want to box myself in and seclude myself to just music. I’d like to venture out into other things, but music is still my #1 passion. What sets me apart from others I think is I’m strictly doing this for the music. No gimmicks, no co signs as of yet. I’ve been building and grinding with blood, sweat and tears pretty much alone for years. I’ve never taken No for an answer. I continue to grow and evolve I am truly in competition with myself. I also don’t think there’s any artist out there that I can be compared to. I’m staying in my own lane. Not trying to be like any other artist. The thing I’m most proud of is throughout all I’ve been through and experienced in life throughout my journey I’ve never given up on myself. I’ve always found a way out and continued to grow. I’ve learned so much and it’s made me a better artist and actually person. My brand is growing, my motto is #mygrindontstop and it’s truly a lifestyle. I have My Grind Don’t Stop Merchandise which is apart of my brand it’s also a label I’d like to have in the near future. I’m also going to be launching a clothing line for females called PrettyEntrepreneurz. I’m working on a few different projects. I will be releasing lots of music real soon. I will also be performing in Tampa September 8-11 for the huge Loud On Seventh Music Festival. It’s a huge festival with lots of dope artist performing. A weekend full of events. So I’m pretty stoked about that! All my fans and followers can find all my music on every major music streaming platform. Spotify, Apple music, iTunes, soundcloud, YouTube… Also fans can follow me on Instagram @pimptress____ and Tiktok @pimptress
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I can say social media is definitely the way to go especially being in the music business. Social media had made it to where labels can go straight to an artist page and see what they’ve got going on and if they are interested in signing you. It’s extremely easy for people to see your content. Music videos etc… I started from ground zero. There’s not 1 place I went that I didn’t have someone follow my Instagram page or have them subscribe to my youtube channel to watch my music videos. I’m always promoting myself so that increases your fanbase and followers as you know. My advice to any upcoming artist to always post content and engage with other artist to build a fanbase online..
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is having people show me genuine love. Kids are my most honest fanbase and it melts my heart to have a kid tell me they love me and I inspire them and they look up to me. A few years back I had a fan message me on Facebook and tell me that one of my songs helped her get through the loss of her father. I will never forget that. Recently I’ve been having young kids from Nigeria create tiktok dances for my songs! I couldn’t believe that my music even reached there!
