Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Pierre Erwin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Pierre, appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned how to engineer & record myself, by going to professional recording studios and watching other engineers. I also learned a lot off of YouTube. With all the information I know now, I would’ve focused more on me as an individual artist instead of trying to bring people along for the ride. I believe training your ear to different sounds is most essential. Obstacles I had in the past that. Stood in the way of learning would have to be, not having the best equipment at the time.
Pierre, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m musician from the southside of Chicago, not only do I rap but I produce music as well. Meaning I make beats. Right now I’m promoting my new ep. “Everybody’s Underdog”. It’s a reflection and take off my life obstacles. It’s real healing music. Music is my therapy. I’m currently making content around the music and also doing lifestyle content with my wife “SelenaIsh”.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Something I’ve been dealing with as of lately is losing my middle finger in a worker compensation situation at work. It went from providing for my family to being out of work. Since the accident I’ve had to relearn myself & learn out to love myself again. Not giving up when things got dark is what illustrates my resilience.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist will have to be, seeing the supporters know your lyrics word for word! As well as them being able to relate to my story. It feel good when people appreciate the craft & music as much as I do.
