We recently connected with Phyllis Kirsch-Dell and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Phyllis, thanks for joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
When I was a young girl my father would always hang my artwork in his office. No matter how many I gave him ,he would always find room for more. He kept encouraging me to be creative. I lost him when I was 14 and that is why I kept my maiden name as part to honor him.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I went to school in Boston to become a graphic designer. I was one for 22 years and also owned my own business. I love design. Design to me is everything. At around that point I went back and took a painting class and have never stopped painting. I paint every day.. I love many pieces I have done and sold but other ones teach me and that is just as important.. I participated in many art shows in Atlanta and held memberships to art groups as well and won a Hudgens Center for the arts award. I also have work in a shop in Norcross. Art and creativity is a constant journey of learning. Something that I do and love everyday.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I think we can get into habits. Using same colors or subjects. I think you have to make yourself break those and learn new ones so your creativity expands.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
For ex: Instagram, you have to like other people’s posts so that you can be seen as well by them. The more you do that ,your audience will grow. That is a learning experience.
