PHNXBLK, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

11th grade English class showed me that I understood the language on a higher level than my peers. Lyrics and music from JAY-Z and Common influenced me to begin writing. It was then that I decided that I would pursue a career in the music industry.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I begin in the music industry, the same way any other artist begins and that’s with a passion for music. That passion is a consistent and focused energy that never ceases or dies. Over time I found ways to transmute that passion into tangible skills, such as songwriting engineering, arranging producing rapping and singing.
I am a classically trained drummer, which is how I am able to express myself freely and without regard….In other words, I only play for myself and my friends lol, My songs are for the world and hopefully One or two people like them every now and then.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?

I wish I knew how many people I needed.

I spent plenty of time in my basement working alone on my craft, which a lot of us creatives do from time to time, but I found that working with other creators and bouncing ideas helps the process flow better. It’s better to be great at one thing than being OK at a whole lot of other things.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

My goal is to make the best music that I can make and provide a feeling of happiness and joy that I feel like is missing in music right now. Most hit records that are timeless have a simple thing in common…. They make you dance. They make you feel good. You have fun. I don’t think we’re having fun anymore as (Artist) we are all working too damn hard. So I guess my mission is to have fun, love hard, & tell y’all the story of how it goes.
