Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Phillip Banks. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Phillip, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Taking a risk is scary. Big or small, it’s a courageous action. No matter what we do on this earth, we are going to pay a price. You can’t escape making a choice and there will always be risky opportunities. You’re either going to pursue the dreams placed in your heart or help someone else pursue theirs. Life isn’t like the movies though, sometimes you take the biggest risk of your life and don’t walk away with what you expected. The only thing you can expect is to walk away with is an experience and a lesson. You can’t think too much about taking risk, you must decide to make a plan and stick to it. NO MATTER WHAT. There’s something for everyone over that wall of fear. Comfort is where dreams go to die. You either take the risk or get finessed by life.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a Creative Director, Content Creator, and Digital Storyteller. I love flexing the creative muscles with every chance I get. Im most proud of a project I recently finished. The production part of it took 3 months and some change, Im proud of myself for sticking through and making sure it was executed.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I think someone who isn’t creative may struggle to understand the process of the final product of a project I produce. I’m always experimenting so there are always new ideas in early stages that I love to share and I feel those who aren’t creative may not understand that one doesn’t have to wait until a skill or project is perfected to share with the world. For me, most times, the creative journey is about trying something and then putting it out there for it to be admired, to serve as inspiration or even to receive criticism. All of that is apart of the journey.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part about being a creative is finishing a project. Starting off a project strong and not letting those anxious thoughts stunt the growth of a project isn’t for the weak. There are many stages to completing something from a thought to a finished project. A lot of people get stuck at the first step of putting it on paper. Having enough faith in an idea to fuel you to the end of the process is unexplainable.
