We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Philetha Tucker a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Philetha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
One of the most meaningful projects I have and am still working on is being the President of The Tampa Bay Juneteenth Coalition. In knowing the history of Juneteenth, which was a people who did not receive the message that they were freed from slavery after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation until two years later, it has been my desire to be a part of helping to restore and promote pride and honor to this people who have been abused, unfairly treated, and looked upon in humiliation as non-human beings.
In operating events to restore the royalty that was stolen from them, I have found this rewarding for me and have connected with a new family through this organization that includes, loving tasks such as feeding the homeless, communities uniting and queens rising. Which has also led me to organize the local and Florida state Miss Juneteenth pageants.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a Pastor, former high school teacher of 35 years, former adjunct professor at the University of Phoenix, and business leader of a youth ministry. I got into the various phases of these leadership positions through spiritual callings. I have been blessed with ears to hear. Some of the creative works I provide include public speaking, consultation, themed productions such as Black History presentations for schools and churches in a plethora of school districts, and Feast of God workshops, as well as producing Juneteenth activities including the Florida Miss Juneteenth pageants for both toddlers and young teens.
Problems solved for clients include Poor self-esteem issues, organizations looking for presentations that are professional and “On spot” ready, as well as tutoring services in the Art of language, and providing an outlet for parents to start their children in learning what it is like to be of royalty when their daughters wish to become a pageant queen.
What sets me apart from others is that I wear many hats, and when or if I am unavailable, I have an identical twin sister who can, and will operate all under the same hats I wear. What I am most proud of and the main things I want potential clients/followers/fans to know about me and my brand is that I operate with the spirit of excellence under God’s authority. And through my faith, know that I can and will achieve all of my goals having the faith in knowing that all things work together for the good of those who love and serve the Lord and who are called according to his purpose.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal/mission is to shine light on injustices through the ministries I am involved in and help those who have been unfairly oppressed rise to the equality they have always deserved.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Non-creatives may not understand the passion I have for this journey due to their own lack of knowledge and or unwillingness to give up power they may hold to assist in my endeavors, however, as my light shines, perhaps others’ will come join the journey.
