We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Pharas Theartist a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Pharas, thanks for joining us today. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
Raise a great Man I’m a people person father so dealing with people just come nature you know I love meeting new people building relationships business or non business
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is pharastheartist coming from Saint Louis music have a independent label call BFGE Born For Greatness Entertainment started off as just me and my lil brother tazz we pivot from what we were originally going to do in life me play professional sports him run track when we didn’t go father we decide to jump into music me having ain’t uncles even cousin who have touch different parts of the music business it was just natural to me and him to do music you know I grew up playing all types of instruments self taught at that from drums to guitar overall tho we our Aafamily started with just a few now we’ve turn bigger and better what set us apart is that we are original have a unique sound coming from where we come from we don’t sound like other artists from Saint Louis been like that since we started we work hard to give our fans viewers good music we want want fans to know we will be those artist who come up and will take pictures talk to you we love people I’m a people person love meeting new people business or non business from talks to networking doesn’t matter
How’d you meet your business partner?
I met my business partner in elementary school since 05 we’ve been friends so it was a no brained to bring him on boated help manage different artist as well as me my brother sinzere been knowing him since 07 so when I first starting building my first label I know I had to get a great artist talent like his my brother tazz we started the recorded label together we go way back since 08 so this label is a family we have a family atmosphere we keep each other on our toes we hold one another accountable that’s key to running anything in my opinion and last but not least my boy lute been knowing him since I was in high school so bring him on boated as my camerman/co podcast host was just easy we started this ideal back in 2020 came to life in 2024
Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
My favorite one my second album I had a lot of success on my first solo project that I was trying recreate my first one all over again so I had to pivot and I just naturally came with a new sound and it did even better then my first tape I was nervous tho just like any artist especially independent your trying keep the momentum or block out the oh can he do this again he lyrical he can’t switch it up instead trying prove the doubters I prove me wrong
