We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Phalando (Mr..Flamboyant) Lawson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Phalando (Mr..Flamboyant), thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
The legacy I have worked so hard to build is that I am a person that is always honest to people and always kept my word , if I say I am going to do something then believe me it will it done no matter what . In the entertainment business you come across a lot of people that tell you all type of stories but if they can not benefit from it believe me it becomes nothing but talk .

Phalando (Mr..Flamboyant), love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I grew up in the industry around my mother who was a singer my uncle William Guest and cousin Gladys Knight . My stepfather Tony Watts taught me a lot about the music industry also behind the scenes that is most important part of leaning how to copyright and own your creation , Brand , Business. So as a child growing up in the industry I learned at a young age about publishing becoming a member with BMI , Soundexchange and other associations and learning the purpose of being a member was for . I spent alot of days and nights in my room researching about these companies when I was not playing sports . So even that I had all these amazing people around me in the industry I still had to read and work to build my name and brand that is now www.JLAWSONMUSICGROUP.com

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
This is very important to everyone that what’s to start a business. Funding is the most important part of starting a business most people that knows me know I am a hard working for a young age so what I would do work one or two jobs and even three jobs when I had to to build my money up to get my business and my career from the ground up .. As a afro American male I also did some things I was not proud of at the time but when you are trying to build something and stay alive at the same to you do things that you are not proud of .

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I am almost every social media platform to build a audience and a lot of people talk about why are you on social media so much because if you want to reach people you have to be there is no way around it but also remember to get out into your community and touch people in person also it is the old way but still the best way those will be your true followers to the end .
