We were lucky to catch up with Peyton Tyree recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Peyton thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with a fun one – what’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?

I believe that most people in my industry disagree with the importance of quality of character representation over quantity. In the few years that I’ve been active in the princess party business, I have seen more and more companies pushing the amount of characters they offer but with relatively poor quality of standards. They are using low quality costumes or apparel, low quality wigs, and lower quality, inaccurate makeup and design that is incredibly mismatched from the original characters they are representing.

Peyton, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Peyton Tyree and I am a full-time high school student/ part-time business owner. I started my business three years ago with the sole purpose of bringing fairytale magic to children for any occasion. I always had a real love and admiration for the positive roles and impacts that princesses had on children, myself included. So, for several years, I began studying character performing because I wanted to find a way to turn that passion into a business. I researched the character entertainment industry and instantly felt compelled to begin my business career focusing mainly on children’s events, play dates, story time and various other special events or ceremonies. Our company offers safe and trusted high quality performers with a theatrical background and a love for children. The performers are highly trained and committed to learning each character that they portray by extensively studying the character’s back story, life experiences, personality, likes and dislikes, etc.., I am most proud of the top quality costumes as well as the top quality performers that our company offers. The main thing that I would like for potential clients, followers and fans to know is that we are fully committed to being as accurate to each character/ princess as we possibly can be without missing even the smallest detail. We take our positions very seriously and we focus on each event as being the greatest opportunity to bringing fairytale magic to life for others rather than seeing it as being an actual job. We truly love what we do and we bring that passion to any event. I think it’s fair to say that we don’t just aim to bring magic to our events because we sincerely live in that magical moment with each and every client that we have the pleasure of serving.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

I think the most effective strategy for building our clientele has been from attending community events. There have been several large community events that we’ve attended where we pre-advertised our business attendance through social media outlets. During these events, we offered promotional gifts by doing a raffle to win prizes and gift baskets. We also advertised and sold goodie bags, handed out business cards and offered free photos with a princess! We provided information about our company in our booth by utilizing event photos and providing pricing lists. Many of the bookings that we receive now are from people who attended some of these events and either met us there or they learned about us from someone else who attended and shared our information by word of mouth.

How did you build your audience on social media?

I built my social media presence by frequently posting and making engaging posts for our audience. We like to ask questions in our captions as well as fun puns and jokes. For anyone who is just starting out and trying to build their social media presence, I would recommend posting frequently/ multiple times a week. Videos that give a behind the scenes or a more personal look at your business also help as well.
