We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Peyton Ragan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Peyton , thanks for joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
I believe just taking the risks, deciding to go straight into business right out of school, quitting my second job 4 months in and moving locations. I bet on myself and my passion and I think it’s truly paid off! I just recently moved into a bigger space and all of this has happened in under 2 year! I got offered a position to come back and teach at the school I went to, to share my passion and teach others facial massage! Every new thing has been a defining moment, I’m extremely grateful for it all!
Peyton , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started straight out of school, I opened my own little business and within four months I moved and rebranded as a holistic esthetician! I moved my room into a wonderful gem The Gestalt House in downtown Springfield, all of the business in the house are focused on healing in both traditional and non traditional ways! Since moving in April of 2021, I have grown into a larger space, received my instructor license teach facial flow at the Paul Mitchell School of Springfield, certified Reiki Practitioner, and now offering certifications under myself! I offer completely holistic facials focused on facial massage! My services are booked by time, that way each services is unique, which can include; Gua Sha, Facial Cupping, Buccal Massage, Hair Oil Treatments, Ear Seeding, Chakra Alignments, Sound Baths, and Reiki!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I think the idea of “not knowing enough” because I was and am still very fresh into the industry! I believe it doesn’t matter how long or little you’ve been in a career, it comes down to passion and drive! There are those with less time that may know more than me in a particular area, and some who’ve been in the game longer that I know more in a specific area! The best thing to do is keep up with continued education and support one another!!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think just being human! Sharing my life and not just putting on that customer service face, I really love to include my clients in all the decision making process, I think it makes them feel really special and it’s amazing for them to acknowledge the growth of the things or ideas you may have shared, and for them to see them come to fruition! I believe it shows them you’re consistent and you follow thru with your ideas! Being a compassionate person, while I’m strict on my policies, I also am very understanding and build true relationships with my clients.
