We were lucky to catch up with Peyton Disenso recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Peyton, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

If some one had told me I would be a business owner one day, I would never have believed them. Despite having dreams of owning a business many times throughout my young adult life, the dreams never stuck around long and my interests changed so many times, I just never thought it would actually pan out. Until my life changed dramatically in December of 2023. I worked in education since I was 15 up until that day and loved every minute of it. Or so I thought. I didn’t realize the toll the stress was having on my mind, body, and spirit. Not until I was in a car accident and forced to take three months of medical leave. During that time, reality hit. But then, inspiration hit. I visited my first metaphysical shop, fell in love, and when I was healthy enough to start working again, asked for a job. This metaphysical store changed my life beyond my wildest dreams. I was introduced to different divination practices such as tarot and pendulums, I enjoyed them but nothing felt like it was just right for me. Until the day I discovered tasseography. I was already a herbalist enthusiast, so it seemed like something worth trying. I started to teach myself how to divine using tea leaves. The first time I sat down to read my leaves, a light sparked within me. I loved the experience so much, I couldn’t wait to do it again. That night, my great-grandmother visited me in a dream and told me “mija, i am so proud of you, you found your power. You are going to help so many people with your gifts.” When I told my father about this dream, he told me how my great-grandmother was a healer and a tea leaf reader in their home town! I practiced my skills of reading tea leaves for a few months, when my boss finally inspired me to be confident enough to offer my readings at her metaphysical shop. I gathered my items, crafted a special tea blend for my clients, and went to the metaphysical shop to be a reader in the divination room. I was amazed at how clearly and eloquently I was able to receive messages from spirit and share helpful insight to others. I was thanked over and over again for the guidance I provided and then some one asked, “Do you sell this herbal tea blend you make? Because if you don’t, you definitely should be!” So it became that “Abundant Enchantment” was my first product that I bagged and labeled and offered to be purchased. It took some time, but the name Holistic Heart Healing came to me, and my business was born! I started teaching herbalism workshops focused on spiritualism and not only was the feedback was incredible, but the way I felt sharing knowledge and healing made me feel like a whole and complete woman. I shared my recipes for my organic herbal skin care and started offering these as products as well. My heart is filled to the brim with love and appreciation every time my products or my insightful readings have a positive effect on others. I only know of one other tasseographer in San Antonio and haven’t found any in Austin. My divination practice is ancient and unique. My products build a bridge between holistic living and spiritualism. My business is deeply rooted in love, healing, and magic.

Peyton, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I am a passionate herbalist and known as “Light Weaver” to my friend group. I have always had a natural ability to bring people together and spark love in a group. I am a life-long lover of learning and teaching others. I started learning herbalism and holistic living out of necessity. My body was sensitive to most products off the shelf and especially to red dye. I found myself making natural products to live a life of comfort. When the ideas for my business was kindled, there was no stopping me. I dived right in head first and have not put the brakes on once in the slightest. I have always been a hard worker and incredibly disciplined. Holistic Heart Healing combines my passion for teaching, creating, and healing. When I am working with herbs or doing a tea leaf reading, I feel light and carefree and completely at peace. I perform my tea leaf readings with oracle cards for extra insight for my clients. I have studied psychology, behavior, and human development most of my life and that knowledge is essential when giving advice or guidance during a reading. I am by no means perfect or totally healed, I am always learning and growing myself. I teach herbalism workshops that include spirituality, a gap between the two was missing when I worked at a metaphysical store and my aim is to build a bridge between the two worlds as they are inherently intertwined. My workshop offerings vary from magical practices with herbs, cooking with intention, and so much more. My goal is to share the wisdom and healing I have gained so others can be the best versions of themselves and live their best life. I specialize in organic herbal blends that soothe and nourish the soul, mind, and body. I also make organic, natural skin care so people can be healthy and trust what they use regularly is good and beneficial to them. I am most proud of my ability to bring a light into others lives. To show them they have the capacity to heal themselves and live a glorious life, the life they aim for. I want people to know that I care about them. That I aim to be supportive in any way they need and hold a safe place for healing and transformation. Holistic Heart Healing started because I was genuine and I yearn to continue to be throughout the entirety of my time as a business owner. This was never about money or fame, it is about sharing information and love that everyone deserves to have.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

The biggest lesson I had to unlearn was a tough one, one that I still catch myself slipping up on every so often. Perfectionism and getting it all done, right now. I have always wanted to excel at anything I do and to achieve it loudly, and quickly. Owning a business has taught me that neither of these things are realistic. Mistake are opportunities to learn and grow. Slowing down is an opportunity to appreciate. Society trains us to be perfect and efficient. When I started to unravel these ideologies, I started to actually perform better. I am not afraid anymore to make a mistake. Most of my mistakes have caused me to pivot into something better. Mistakes have taught me to be humble and I have seen how people appreciate my human-ness. When I release the idea of perfectionism, I am so much more raw, real, and accessible; which is the reality of my business. When I allow myself to slow down, my products are made with intention that can be felt, I love being able to ask for advice and learn from others. My boss is an small business owner and has provided me with so much inspiration and insight. I learn the most from her and the mistakes she’s made and how to grow from them. Living in the moment allows me to continue my healing journey so I may show up better for my clients.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

My reputation has been built by me showing up and holding space. I listen. I give my clients the time they deserve to be heard and be seen. To express themselves. Just holding space for some one is the true connection to building a business. I don’t have to push my products. I am present with the people who come into my lives and show them I care. I laugh, cry, and celebrate with my clients. I share my experiences. I allow them to feel whatever it is they are feeling. I enjoy sharing knowledge and guidance with them, once they are ready. But it takes patience and understanding first and foremost. I relate to them and share experiences I have gone through to help them know they are not alone, and that they too, can and will prevail. My products are made with intention and purpose. They are there as helping tools to my customers to work through their challenges and celebrations. I think that this can be felt in my products and has truly resonated with my clientele.
