We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Peyton Craft. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Peyton below.
Peyton, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
I LOVE being a business owner. Running my own business comes so natural to me – from connecting with others, to admin work, organizing, dreaming, and planning; i thriveeee. I truly don’t know what I would be doing if it weren’t this. I see so much potential in growth, and in freedom with my creativity. I am so thankful to get to call this my job!
Peyton, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
So, from before I can remember I have always been driven to document moments. I remember being so young, asking for my first digital camera, and taking it all over to document my day. I love that too about being a creative – my days get to be documented and it is just a part of the job. In later years, even post-college, I would go out and create shoots for myself and have a friend join – i would set the stage and just capture beauty within my surroiundings. I LOVED editing them to make them feel like my own touch of creativity, and then sharing them with soulful words was my finishing touch. Now I get to tell stories through my photos all of the time – I focus on motherhood + births, and much of anything lifestyle. I love being able to freeze time for my clients in such a tangible way, in a sacred moment they will never get back. It is magic.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media is where i come alive. Getting to share my heart is probably my forte, and I love that my JOB is incorporated into just that. I always say, there is beauty in the raw heart, and I love getting to portray that through my social media and have so many others who relate. I think the best thing you can do is just be YOU – that is what i have found to be true in mu business, people are attracted to raw and real, and every single human is so unique in who they are; we each have our own audience.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Instagram :) and word of mouth!! Again, I believe that being fully transparent on my socials has brought so many to me. I am so passionate about that, and about sharing real life stories and raw moments. Never be afraid to be fully you! Instagram is a beautiful tool for connection. I have met SO many on there – even my husband, and so many best friends!
