We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Peyday Peyton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Peyday below.
Hi Peyday, thanks for joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned what I know now by welcoming opportunities to fail , while also analyzing every situation with intent to eliminate the possibility of negative repetition . I wanted to know how to fail , and what it felt like to fail from every perspective . I also wanted to experience failure from an outside perspective and see how others react to it , also how it made me feel ; did it matter to me enough to fight for success in whichever category of life I witnessed the failure in . That then allowed me to understand my essential skills , resulting in genuinely strengthening what not that I wanted to be good at , but what I knew I was good at . If I had to point out an obstacle for why learning was difficult it always falls down to pride , and not letting it go in situations necessary .
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello everyone , my name is Garin “ Peyday “ Peyton and I am a multi purpose artist creating waves with the intent to inspire , motivate and promote the belief that you can do anything if you put your mind to it . I was born in Hayward , CA and shortly after I moved into the state of Washington . At the age of 8 I developed a strong Love for basketball and ended up playing up until the collegiate level . In high school I was always big on music , and entertaining my friends with either a corny joke , a big smile or some dramatic reaction to a minuscule problem . No matter what , I was involved and rarely gave a damn what anyone thought about me . Which in turn directed me into wanting to be a rapper . One thing about being a rapper rather than a musician growing up was you tend to embody the influences that were portrayed through the mainstream media , rather than who you are whole heartedly . I learned the most about myself and what I didn’t want to be very quickly . With all the trials and tribulations I endured , I developed a passion that allowed me to push through any challenge that tried to push me off track . I realized I didn’t just want to be a rapper , I wanted to be a producer a director an actor a model , I wanted to harness “ a little bit of everything “ . I now do everything I can with the knowledge that I’ve accrued to finally build the platform I’ve desired , the right way .
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
This is a very interesting question because yes goals are good , and of course you need a mission but I have always tried my best to stay away from those types of labels . I’ve tried my best to stay genuine in my approach to art . I don’t like the desire for payment , but if someone feels the need to support me out of the kindness of their heart I will accept . I am not naive that you need money to survive , but I also don’t base success in art by financial abundance . So my mission is to be who I am , and the benefits will fall into place accordingly . It is the soul motto that I live by and which will ultimately bring me success .
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the ability to separate from the matrix . This world will eat you alive if you don’t have an outlet or a desire to create . Whether it’s music , food , painting etc . Finding a way to create your own reality and inspire others to positively do the same , is the only way the human race can be saved . Without that we are drones , waking up doing the same things everyday in order to fulfill someone else’s dream .
