We recently connected with Peter Prankster and have shared our conversation below.
Peter, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I wish I had started my creative journey sooner! So I’ve known for a long time that I wanted to be an entertainer. It wasn’t until a couple of years ago I discovered what that might actually look like. I started a TikTok page when Covid started in March of 2020 and I began uploading pranks. I really had no idea what I was doing. At that time, I had just been let go from my part time job due to the Pandemic. My page began to grow abnormally fast and I wondered if I might be onto something! After 8 months of posting, I decided to go from social experiments in public to having comedic conversations with people over video chat using puppets. Timing for everything worked well, but if I would have started sooner, I could be farther along than I am. I spent a long time trying to figure out what I was really good at. I dabbled in music, skits, challenges, and pranks until I eventually landed on puppets. I’m happy everything happened how it happened because you live and you learn! But in the back of my mind, I kinda wish I knew what path I would end up on earlier so it wouldn’t have taken so long to get here.

Peter, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is PeterPrankster and I am a TikTok Comedian and Prankster. I currently specialize in family-friendly comedic conversations with strangers via video chat using puppets! I got into puppets at a young age because they were a unique form of expression! I found that I could get away with saying more of what was on my mind with my puppets because it was like they were speaking instead of me. I tried a series of different video types and uploading platforms until it eventually just kind of clicked. I now post content daily on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube and have almost 2 Million followers and hundreds of millions of views.
I think there are a few things that set me apart from other people. One is the content being clean. Without a bunch of profanity, I’m able to reach a wider audience. I want my content to be something the whole family can watch and enjoy together!
The second thing that sets me apart is I’m not a ventriloquist. You rarely see a puppeteer without a human next to them. This made my characters feel even more like they were alive, just doing their own thing. And because of the platform I use, I’m able to capture people’s reactions to my puppets. All this combined makes my content extremely unique and I believe that’s why it’s caught on like it has.
At this time, there are 2 main ways people can support me financially. One is booking me to make you a custom video message with my characters. I can be found on CAMEO by searching PeterPrankster. The other is my merchandise store where I have various shirts and hoodies with my original characters on them!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding thing for me is seeing my content bring joy to people. When I get messages online, someone stops me in person, or I get kind comments on my videos, it makes me feel like I’m really making a difference in the world. There are plenty of people out there looking to tear others down. But I am the one who tries to build them up instead. That’s what makes this journey the most rewarding for me.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Consistency and originality are key! You have to post often! And you have to do things in a fresh new way! You can TRY to build a following off doing the same trends and challenges as everyone else, but it can be difficult. You want to set yourself apart from the crowd. And don’t make excuses! You’re not too young, or too busy, or too inexperienced. The earlier you start, the sooner you might have success. And most people that say they’re “too busy” just have a hard time organizing their priorities. If you had hours to play video games or watch other people’s content, then you had time to make your own. You just have to choose how and where you spend your time. And everyone starts at 0 followers and 0 views. Your experience is making terrible videos, learning from them, and doing better later!
My advice for people who want to start posting content is do what makes you happy. Don’t worry about the views and followers. Those will come if you’re doing a good job. So be consistent, be original, and don’t make excuses!
