Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Peter Alexander. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Peter , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Is there a heartwarming story from your career that you look back on?
We had a new patient call us, let’s call her Sam. Sam had been in debilitating upper back pain for more than 10 years. It all started with a bout of shingles that caused “nerve pain” She had been to multiple doctors, chiros, PTs, functional medicine docs, etc. and no one could give her any real answers besides. “Nerve pain” On that call she mentioned she would have already ended her own life by now if she hadn’t been a Christian.
I knew I had to at least try to help. On our first visit she couldn’t even brush her hair without having 9/10 pain for 2 days. What we found is that the initial shingles changed her movement patterns, specifically her breathing and shoulder blade patterns.
Everyone was looking at where she was having pain so we looked where she didn’t. We were able to find her root cause and develop a proper rehab program. On our last session together, Sam informed me that she was sore. She was sore because she just spent 3 days sanding and painting her kitchen cabinets. She was only sore like she did a workout, but had no pain.
Most of the time when you’ve having pain in one area, it’s because another area isn’t doing it’s job. That’s what we call the root cause.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve been fascinated by human movement for most of my life. I grew up playing hockey, various martial arts, and all sports in between. I’ve studying in gymnastics strength training, to yoga teacher certifications.
I understand that when someone who is active gets into pain they need something a little more. Just a massage, or getting your back cracked doesn’t really get you back to playing.
So we help people who are looking to get to the root cause, they want long term results, and don’t just want to get out of pain. Our typical patients have tried traditional chiros or PTs and haven’t gotten results. We build a step by step program to get people back to what they actually want to do.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn stretching tight muscles. Most of the time a muscle is tight because 2 things;
1. It’s already over stretched. Imagine you pull on your shirt. The shirt feels tight, but it’s tight because it’s overstretching.
2. It’s tight because somewhere else is unstable. If your core is unstable, when you go to touch your toes your hamstrings are going to tighten. It’s your brains way of protecting itself.
So you can make tightness go away by strengthening the right way. Stretching is making it worse

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start?
I started small and committed before having a 100% plan. I rented the space, and found ways to furnish it. I had a business plan, but I’d never been in business. I had no idea what I was doing. I just knew I was good clinically. By signing a 5 year lease to an office space i had to figure it out. In the beginning I did everything. I made a website (didn’t look great). I furnished through Facebook marketplace. I bartered services. I would be up until 1:00am learning marketing platforms. I also had 2 other jobs that paid for my personal expenses (barely).
