We were lucky to catch up with Pete Coleman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Pete, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you have any advice regarding quality control and maintaining quality as your brand grows?
I believe that as your business grows, so should your level of quality control and customer service
Pete, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Chef Pete Coleman. Originally from Baton Rouge Louisiana. Raised in San Diego California. My passion for cooking comes from my mom. Being in the kitchen with her and watching her make this magical food. I began working in sports bars and mom & pop restaurants. Learning how to cook from scratch changed my entire definition of “Chef”. As I grew in my culinary career, I beg to understand the true meaning of how good works. Not just cooking. Working in fine dining restaurants in La Jolla and Downtown San Diego. As I began to excel in my culinary career, I started getting into the private sector. Cooking for celebrities such as Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Reggie Jackson, Johnny Mathis, just to name a few. I appeared on Food Network, Guys Grocery Games. I love donating my services to several non profit organizations.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I started my own business in 2018, it was the scariest and best decision I’ve ever made. I was making the restaurant I was working in 3 million a year in gross sales. I figured, why shouldn’t I do this for myself.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media is the most power tool to start a new business. It’s literally free advertising. The “FREE” is your best friend as a new business owner. Learning to save as much as you can is the first step. Creating your social media following is critical to your success. Just like they say, “people eat with their eyes”, well people also shop with their eyes. Convey all your work and crafts to a social media platform and watch it grow!
